New to the game

Hi all,
I just started playing GW, and am still on a trial account.
With GW2 just around the corner is it worth shelling out ££s on GW or will it be closed down to make way for for GW (especially if it's before I can play through the expansions)?

(I'm an ex SWG player having started SWG late only to find it cancelled now that ToR is just around the corner - once bitten twice shy and all that).

Arenanet, the makers of Guild Wars, have said multiple times that the GW 1 servers will be open as long as there are players playing GW 1. This is probably many years ahead.

And yes, it's worth the money - even if you're not interested in the GW2 rewards from GW1's Hall of Monument.

GW1 servers won't shut down when GW2 comes out. Also, it has been stated that even once GW2 is out, you'll still be able to earn HoM points for GW2.

So, the question is not about GW2 but whether GW1 is a game you'd like to play on its own merits.

As I said in my last post on another thread of yours, they wont close the servers down.

Well if ur europe then check out play.com /amazon ect as you will pick up the complete collections very cheaply now . as it has all 3 games plus the expansion eye of the north all on one cd .

Ther are a lot of guilds out there to assist and I am sure there was a post saying a guild just had taken on a new member (if it was not you then have a look at the last post u made

Highlander, I think you have me confused with someone else. i've only posted in this thread. (this post taking my post count to three).

Thanks for the tip on amazon/play though as I was going to buy the games through the in-game store.
