What was all your favorite things when you all started out playing Guild wars? And what ended out being your favorite thing?

Starting: I found that grouping up was a major aspect of the game. No one would want to solo yet, people were very engaging, and were full of life, especially with making new friends, PuGs with limited preferences.

Ending: The use of heroes helped me so much, i remember at the beginning of the game, henchmen were quite popular but a pain in the a**. now heroes being extremely customizable, life is so much easier. I do have to say though, it was quite hard learning how to properly use my heroes and setting up their builds but like all things, i adapted.

Guild Wars 2 is definately going to open up a lot of new experiences, i'm rather scared of not being able to adapt too well, but thats only me I guess haha :/

Flute, Ogre-slaying knife, now Mallyx's Savagery.

You said "things"...

edit: when I first started in beta I was so newb that I thought you needed to buy a flute to play it with /flute. Male necros hold their items when emoting so it is all good.

Favorite Thing Then: Longbow. Every character can have a longbow for pulling brought me over from WoW opening day of Prophecies.

Favorite Thing Now: Heroes. Love running around with a small army.

If I wrote an article about GW I would title it "From Longbow to Heroes."

In the beginning it was getting my first green item I was so proud of that Its a bow called Stinger and I still have it.

Now its finding out that I still enjoy the game 5 years on mainly because of heroes.

Favorite things when first starting GW?

The Ft. Ranick mission - still fun after all these years
Pre-Searing - A lively, interesting community with lots of very "Wow!" worthy scenery.
Lots of guildies & friends running around having all kinds of fun.

Favorite things now:
Ft. Ranick mission is still fun- running down into the charr camps and wreaking havoc with my Warrior - good times!
Zaishen Missions/Bounties/Vanquishes - gives me a reason to keep playing.
Guildies & friends starting to get back into GW preparing for GW2

Good call. Getting my first green drop (Baubao's Shell) was like the most awesome thing ever. I purposely used Koss just so I had a reason for it to exist.

Nowadays, 7 heroes are my favorite thing. I've always played solo because of my wife and kids situation and it's so nice to be able to fully tailor my entire team's build and equipment.

Start: Pugging in Prophecies days, selling low-end FDS for little profit, running rampant with an infinite minion army (with Golem as the mini-boss)
Middle: Trading...trading..and more trading, altoholic, mastering all professions, developing next-gen hero teams, destroying PvE HM content, multiple GWAMMs
Now: RA, FA and occasional HA

Speaking of greens. I used to have such a blast learning the "nuances" of farming Totem Axes with my ranger. Good times.

Another favorite of mine was when I made my first real profit in the game, selling HoD swords when they were worth 400k each, also seeing my first lvl20 in pre searing and demanded to know how to do. Once I found out I lost complete intrest until it them became a title....

Leaving pre-searing for the first time and seeing how big the actual map was.

I still have my screen of this, my favorite nonsensical combo for the game. I still have them as well, tucked away for safe keeping.

My favorite aspect of the game originally was the people. I loved going out with my guild and doing FoW, or whatever our choice of action was at that point in time. The people are what originally made this game for me.

Sadly, most of the people I played with in the first year are no longer playing (thought not surprising), so a lot of that original nostalgia and magic is lost, especially with the introduction of 7 hero teams, a lot of incentive is gone for grouping with other individuals when you know your heroes can get the job done just as well, if not better, for things like the bounties and stuff.

Still, I like to adventure with some old friends now and then and just goof off and have fun, because really, that's what playing a game is all about.

My favorite thing was Hero Battles and HA.
Makes me quite sad that I'm unable to play either of those now (HB deleted and HA inactive).

The fact I could take my time through ANYTHING with henchmen and/or heroes if I felt "rushers" would dilute the fun in having an adventure.

Yes, this is great.. Nothing worse than people whining about you wanting to actually get some of the story

Or complaining when you are trying to get screenshots of something you find interesting.
