Hey guys, I just beat Rescue at Minister Cho's Estate HM quest using standard pvxwiki SoGM/Defensive ST+heal/Sos on necro, while playing a DS warrior, but found it quite tough. Wiped a few times, even using SY (though I do attribute this to my sloppiness most of the time), and I reckon doing these on my mesmer will be tougher. Those who have done it, I'm curious what setups were used? I don't really like using rits
For the rest of the quests in HM up the this one I took a UA healer, ER prot instead of ST, JB minion and EB/Ineptitude mesmers (all from pvxwiki). This setup ran alright, a lot better for me than 7 player support, rojway, and some other teams I had. I think the issue was that some of the mobs, like in Cleansing Bukdek Byway, were very large with lots of constant offensive attacks (drained ST quick) and cracked a lot of other builds I've used for HM dungeons and such.

Did it quite easy on my Rt and my Para (with evas) HM no pcons.
Both time using ST prot, UA + mm heroes.
Only bit I needed to be extra careful on was 1st pull, so the critters can't attack the little dude

Trick is to use a lot of offensive defence. I used a DBS hammer warrior, spamming yeti smash, b-surge air nuker, n/rt healer and an SoS (fpr cho's/4man stuff).

I ran Discord and poped a Gstone (was bored)
and imo mes is the best class to go through Winds of change

Minister Cho's in NM wasn't too bad with a Cruel Spear para (with technobabble for dazing fun) 2 rits (SoGm and SoS) and a AotL minion master. That being said I have zero desire to attempt that quest in HM (as much as I'd like additional rewards from the HM quests)

I've used just one setup of heroes on all my chars for that quest in HM.
Standard SoS + resto
Standard SoGM
and a hybrid MM prot. Oh I put spirit bond on this one.
What I did was lay down spirits abit away from the mob, flag heroes behind the spirits, and then I pull a mob to the spirits. This method usually guarantees at least 1 kill, at least for me it did, providing you didn't place the spirits in a stupid spot behind a wall or something
And if I accidentally pull more than 1 mob, or if things start going bad, I flag all of my heroes back and start running away, the spirits will usually keep them occupied long enough for the escape.
And then just lather rinse repeat :")
Pretty fun doing this quest in HM 10 times :") /cough

I am sorry for necroing the thread but I am having loads of troubles with this quest HM.
My character is a monk and I tried running a prot with some SoS/SoGM/MM, couldnt kill a damn thing. I tried to switch out the MM for a mes but did not help a bit.
Any hints would be most useful.

Buzz is that the quests are going to get toned down along with the release of part 3. If all else fails, you can just wait.

try just running SoS yourself, Aise. you can replace the SoS hero with something else then, like, some spot healing and damage or something.

SoS, Panic and SoGM heroes is a good combination. As a monk you just have to keep them alive then which is relatively easy.

Thanks guys, I switched to healer with some prots and and run SoGM, SoS and Panic. Seems like the quest did get toned down though, less afflicted and the peasants did not get attacked once during my trip.
Cheers ^ ^

Did Minister Cho's in HM with SoGM, SoS+Heals, Panic dom mes and dedicated N/Rt healer. Took 40 minutes and a couple deaths but then again this is post-nerf.

Panic is nigh-useless in 90% of fights against small group sizes of 4 or 5. Definitely don't take it there.

I also just finished it in HM today, the only cons used was 2 leaf-clovers.
Used a SoGM / SoS Resto / MM prot heroes and I went as spear beastmaster ranger.
MM died a lot causing many troubles (the minions turning against us) I think a Panic or Esurge mesmer would be better or maybe a RoJ.

I think the key to this one is to take your time and pull properly. That means pre-casting Spirits, waiting for energy regeneration, interrupting the casters etc. And waiting between groups. Worth it over dying 100 times.

Could someone post a current (December 2012) working 3H/7H setup for WoC HM, including most recommended skills, skill points, etc?

The basic team build isn't that different from anything else that is required in HM or elite areas. Here's some more specific advice :
3. Cleansing Shenzun Tunnels: go to where the quest tells you to go then retreat somewhere near the bridge and pull enemies to you.
7. Rescue at Minister Cho's Estate: use a Necro with minions, SoS Rit, and a healer. If you are playing one of those roles yourself, then I would add an Energy Surge Mesmer instead.
8. Cleansing Haiju Lagoon: use a self-sacrifice skill (Blood is Power, Order of Pain etc.) to pull the ally (that you're supposed to keep alive) further into the shallow water, away from where the enemies are coming.
14. Tracking the Corruption: stay in the South-East corner and pull mobs to you.
21. & 22. Trading Blows / Ever Closer to the Edge: use minions to draw the diplomats away and let the 2 enemy groups destroy each other.
29. Finding Jinnai: trigger the dialogue, then use the teleporter, go up to the cemetery, and defend that position.
32. There Goes the Neighborhood: maintain a +33% speed boost on your allies (Fall Back, Incoming, or Charge).
34. Raid on Shing Jea Monastery: give more corpse-exploitation skills to your Necro (like Putrid Explosion or even wells) and place Edge of Extinction behind Mhenlo (even 8 Beast Mastery is ok). Only talk to the Canthan Guard at the very last wave, since that one was the hardest.
35. The Final Confrontation: use a lot of heroes with Energy Surge and Spiritual Pain (maybe give Panic to one of them) and don't bother with minions (maybe bring a well skill instead). If you're still having trouble then use Swap to correctly identify the real Reiko (it will say "Invalid Target" if it's the real Reiko and not an illusion) and, in general, try to focus your fire on her, especially if her bar is almost empty.

I've made a video of The Final Confrontation in Hard Mode as played by an E/Mo bonder with the hero skills panel up.

I've beat the entire questline in NM and HM 4 times with these exact hero builds. You can swap skills around per individual quest to make things faster, but those builds should suffice for any given quest.

finished WoC HM as A/W using this setup, no pcons:
http://www.gwpvx.com/User:Yoyoma/7_Hero
of course, you will need to drop a rit or mes and add another hero.
