I have been helping one of my friends with some laptop problems and have hit a wall. He was having hard drive problems and we did a clean reformat into Windows 7. The drivers from the Toshiba Site for Win7 are not all working, particularly the Intel graphics. Upon going to the Intel site, we were simply referred back to the manufacturer's page.

I recall using a program when I last reformatted my desktop that auto-detected hardware and downloaded the latest drivers. A google search came up with some paid services and some sketchy free ones, does anyone have one to suggest?

Thanks in advance!

Here's the site for your friend's laptop graphics drivers.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...01&FamilyId=39

Just select the correct OS and Driver on the right.

And download "Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* X(exe)"

Note: The Intel x3100 WDDM 1.1 W7 Drivers may induce flickering effects in W7 when gaming, if you want to resolve this you must use the Vista drivers (which are WDDM 1.0)

For the other drivers, try using the vista ones.
Make sure you're downloading the correct drivers for the OS (ie. x86 vs x64)

According to the link you sent the laptop you are working on uses Mobile Intel® GM965 Express Chipset for its GPU, and is accelerated with Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 with 128MB-358MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory

you can go to the site here.

To allow intel to scan your computer to any drivers you don't have or are out of date....

It is true that windows 7 drivers do not function correctly on default settings, I had flickering and lock up problems when getting games to work for my wife's laptop.... after you install the driver you can use the driver utility to turn off all playback and color enhancing features, and turn down your refresh rate from 60hz to 50hz to stop flicking and lock ups... if you need more details on where to find these settings let me know and ill post more detailed instructions when i get home. :x

Thank you both! We re-reformatted and his machine is happy once again.
