All i do in this game is trade. And trading has been very slow and now I'm very bored
So I've decided to come up with a game for myself and document it here. I call it "The 0g Trading Challenge"
I have transfered all my money and items of value to other characters or accounts and will start off fresh with 0g and no items of value and see how much I can make over the next 7 days day?
I will document my trades here after each day.
Please no discussing of powertrading ethics, etc. But any other posts and comments are welcome, I hope you enjoy the thread!
Day 1:
First trade - Someone in Great Temple gave me a free undedicated Burning Titan, a bunch of weapon mods, and some party points. Also got some free ded minis from someone else.
From the weapon mods I managed to sell +30 for scythe 5k, staff enchant 20% 4.5k, 2x wand wrap 20% 4k ea, adept staff head 4k.
Shortly after I sold some party points, then sold the burning titan for 15k.
At this point I had close to 50k and that's all I needed to work with. I bought a seer, summit giant herder, dredge brute, roaring ether, abyssal for 1k each. Flowstone Elemental for 3k. Traded off my ded minis for unded.
I'm not going to bore you with a list of all the trades I made, but after a days work of trading here is what I ended up with in my inventory:
I may or may not continue this for the next week, as it took off better than I expected in the first day. It would just be about me posting the deals I get every day and not sure I want to do that, or if you want to hear about it for that matter.
It was an interesting challenge, but it quickly went back to the ordinary after I made a certain amount of plat. You should try it some time. And if anyone has any other trading challenges please post them.

Nope. Strictly through trading only.
So that means I will have to be given free stuff.

I consider it "asking nicely" as opposed to "begging"

Better to start with some gold. Even 1g is better. Maybe get a dye for 1g, sell for 50g, etc.

Sounds like you're having fun & I wish you the best with it!
Did you, by any chance, happen to buy a pile of stuff from a single player at once that included things like a tormented spear, a couple greens (one was a scythe, can't remember the other,) and an ebonhand aegis? For a total of 18k+22e (if memory serves) a few hours ago?
EDIT - I ask only because a friend of mine, who I sometimes help try to PC his loot, showed me a bunch of stuff earlier. I gave him my best guesses at b/o targets. He went off to Kamadan.
A few hours later he told me he sold everything. Congratulating him and shamelessly asking him to consider posting the Tormented Spear and green prices on the Green PC guide thread, I was amazed to hear he'd sold all of those things as a single lot to the same player. He told me they'd haggled quite a bit but in a fun, entertaining way. I couldn't imagine who would be shopping for that random set of stuff at once. Then I saw this thread later, and I wondered if this was the explanation. He sounded like he had a great time haggling and perfectly pleased with transaction, so if it was part of something grander and even more fun I think it's awesome! I'll have to send him a link to this thread.

this has actually been done before (and noted here on guru: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/o...t10487164.html)
its easy to start with a red iris flower (since they are worth 5g and you need not kill anything to get them!).
good luck!

No, it was all the trading i managed to get done in a 24 hour period, from Midnight to Midnight.
Which was about 8-10 hours worth.

I have no shame Give meh some minis Sarah lol
On the other hand, most of the time I do find it more productive to give away items taking up inventory space rather than try to sell them if they're only worth 1-5k. But for the sake of the challenge, i took the poor fellows stuff.

Oh man! Now I really wonder what his shopping list was all about!!! Perhaps someone else out there is playing your game, too? It might be even more interesting if there was some kind of friendly competition to this.

I wonder too, Luny. Who would spend 18k+22e on such a random set of items? What a conundrum! I guess some things are lost to the past, other things lost out of the necessity to remain sane, and just a few things lost to the fruition of a simple trade. But surely, who would believe such tales?
It is always fun to start over again from nothing. I wish you luck and hope you continue with it, AC.
