satomz, don't worry, I've also stated:

If you feel up to it, you can also try your hand at drawing my cat!
So it definately qualifies
And it's very nicely drawn, I love it!
Last day everyone, I'll announce the winners after today is over, so people all over the world will have time to enter their piece before their local midnight. :P
I hope to have some time tomorrow evening, but I won't be home very long monday, so it could also be tuesday. So don't worry if you enter a wee bit late

Allright, thank you all for participating in my contest! We've enjoyed all your creations a lot.
My wife and I have judged them, and this is the final result:
1st prize: GeminiJuSa!
A tough decision between this one and satomz's entry. Both are really good. The hat and collar are well done, and I love the border and the cat-paw-prints.
2nd prize: Satomz!
The card is simple but elegant, and we both love it a lot!
3rd prize: Thistle Xandra!
I love the halo in Obi-Wan's mouth. And this one is simply funny. Good job!
4th prize: brandylynn8403!
In the nick of time, and really funny. Both pets with x-mas hats on a festive background. Great work!
5th prize: Superfrogger AND Pink Day Queen!
Well, we had a hard time chosing, so we decided to give both the 5th prize. These two didn't have a special X-mas background, which is why they finished last, but they deserve a prize nonetheless!
Thanks again, we really love all entries! You can all come and collect your prizes online.
I'm not on much, but I'm usually at home at my computer between 18.30 and 21.00 CET (Netherlands).
Just add me to your friends list: Sjeng De Nachraof and pm me when you see me!

@Thistle: Thank you ^^ I do hope to work in graphic's design one day, but I need a loot more practice. And some education. I know some, but I always wanna learn more. ^^
@Pink Day Queen: For that card I edited the colours on the original pic, toned down some over exposure (flash tends to overexpose some parts of a pic, but cats are hard to cap without one >_<) by drawing on some darker colour with low opacity. Then I cut out the cat using a slightly feathered lasso tool and pasted in postcard-sized document. Then I made 4 snowflake brushes , added some fussy white borders, put the snowflakes there and drew on the hat and collar. I did actually trace a cat's paw to make the paw print, and shaded the outlines. The candy canes I did last year for a random practice christmas-card. You can't see it well, but I did put a shadow in there consistent with the light-source from the original pic. Consistency with lightning is very important when you do a cut-paste-draw job. The mind will notice even if the person watching it won't know it, and it'll look a bit "off".
Hope that concise description was an inspiration for you. There are tutorials for all of these things, I just didn't use any myself :P
