New to Guild Wars, Latency Issues

I've looked through the stickies and various posts in this forum so far and followed them. IE flushing my dns, defragging gw.exe, and multiple other proposed fixes for players with latency issues.

I just got the game a few days ago, I have periods where I am running at a smooth 100ms and then will frequently spike up to 600-1000ms. Obviously it's very hard to play a game with that kind of latency so I'm looking for help!

I ran the Guild Wars network diagnostic but my skills at effectively diagnosing my problems myself are limited.

I am going to post my results in a spoiler and I hope maybe some of you can help me figure out what the issue is.

i would say check the firmware on your router. is it up to date? maybe try a straight connection without the router and see if you have the same effect. make sure the power settings for your nic are set to always on as well.

just some small suggestions based on your info.

It's most likely that there's simply a bad router somewhere in your data path to GW. There's not a whole lot you can do if that is the case, but the good news is, it usually clears up after a while.
