Remove exclamation marks from Zaishen Scouts
Sagittario
I see there no reason them to have exclamation mark above them any longer.

what are zaishen scouts? Oo
MisterB
Zaishen Scouts are intended to help players find people outside of the outpost to complete missions, and the exclamation mark draws their attention. They aren't really the problem. The problem is that new players are not given an explanation upon arrival to Embark Beach on where to go to return to where they were before if port travel is unavailable.
Bristlebane
Orrrrrr.. let exclamation point only show until you zaishen travelled for the first time.
They can remain in Embark Beach though.

totally signed, i cant even count how many times Ive been in an outpost and saw an " ! " and thought oh look a quest and realized it was the travel guy.
I agree simple fix have them until you use them once and then their purpose is full filled, new or returning players learn about the map travel and its done with

I think they should have a single introductory quest, like the Zaishen guides for PvP, to let you get there, meet the people in there and leave, and then stop having the exclamation.

how many new people have stood in one of the mission towns in ascalon and hit the "!" on the stupid scout, only to wind up in embark beach--from where they have no idea how to get back---
(have you ever stood in embark and listened on the chat channel for these poor souls?)
The scout can stay...the "!" has to go!!!!!

This is also one of reasons why I'd like the " ! " to not be there.

The players who become trapped in Embark Beach will still land there even without exclamation marks.
WarcryOfTruth
One solution I always thought should be implemented would be an NPC near the very middle of Embark, maybe on top of the giant hill where the Helicopter was on April Fools' Day. And this NPC will return players to the last PvE Town/Outpost/Mission they were in. This would probably be a much better solution. This way, if people in Embark hear "how do I get out of here?", we can all say "talk to <said NPC's name> on top of the hill". Just a thought

This has always annoyed me, but I agree with having a mission OR having the exclamation removed after travelling there for the first time.

Stuck in Embark Beach. Lost in the Airport. Hysterical. I could point out some analogous moments from other mmo. Point is, I think players are capable of dealing with this. Most are going to figure it all out on their own.

Removing the exclamation point and just leaving them that way will be a little awkward, because they'll then receive the status of the extras - little kiddies, Kournan slaves, and Canthan peasants. I suggest instead that they be marked in some other way that doesn't scream "quest".
Idea 1: Different icon
There's lots of possibilities that can be recycled from the /zrank emote or any one of the Zaishen-specific items.
Idea 2: Name + square brackets
This is similar to every single other normal service NPC in towns. Just give them the format of "Joe IsMyName [Zaishen Scout]".

There needs to be an in game description for embark once the player gets there for the first time.

Come on, folks. You don't get instantaneous travel when you click on a Scout. There is a dialogue and you choose to travel or not.
All you have to do is pay attention.

Traveling there isn't the problem, it's the fact that new players then don't know how to get back. Like others have said, a quest that shows them how to get there and back would be ideal really.
MithranArkanere
Yup.
Just like the account-wide Zaishen Guide quests you can make just once, the Zaishen Scouts should have such a quest too.

Every time I'm in an outpost and see the " ! ", I get excited because it's a quest I didn't see before! But it's not...
Furthermore, once a player has traveled to Embark Beach, there could be a "Leave Embark Beach" button somewhere, that would transport them back to wherever they came from, similar to the "Leave Guild Hall" button.

I've never once had any issue with being "accidentally" flung to Embark because of the Scouts, for the very reason that FalconDance posted.
If people are too silly to read what they're clicking when they see an exclamation point, well then maybe next time after they're inconvenienced they'll learn.
