maybe move charm animal to expertise and allow rangers to have multiple pets.
say 1 at exp 1-7, 2 at exp 8-15 and 3 at exp 16 and up.

Not too sure on how that would balance out--if it even would. Not only that, but it would be difficult to balance skills that tie into pets. When using a pet attack, do all pets perform that attack? Or just one at random? And skill resets on pet death would be frustrating with multiple pets. Perhaps if this change were made to the Beast Mastery attribute instead, then it might be somewhat feasible. But balancing pets and pet attacks/buffs would be nigh impossible.

Not signed. There are lots of things that could be done. I personally feel that bow skills and traps are what need enhancing. My pet is doing just fine at the moment.

The only thing I would change on pets is their AI. Pets should attack your target the moment you use a skill without you having to click on their attack icon. Otherwise they are plenty powerful enough (take a pet into the Norn tournament and watch them take down Bison).

multiple pets is a terrible idea: I'm sure nobody wants IWAY back

No no and no again. Makes no sense and also it's not something that would buff ranger in any way. Pets are not spirits or minions.

If they had different properties and you could switch them, but have only one at the same time, and you could have more than one for a short time by using some elite, it could make sense.

As pets are now, there's no need to have more than one. Even with beast mastery 0 they have 80 armor and soak damage.

....are you serious? You want to give Rangers multiple pets at once?
I can get 1 pet to do between 50 and 60 dps and spike for up to 150+...how OP would it be to have 3 pets?

I love my Ranger, and I certainly don't want them becoming so OP that they become the new meta. It's fun being part of the smaller crowd.

Pets are fine.

Spirits are never used because of huge cast times and recharges, and that's before taking into account the fact that the symmetric effect often hurts your team more than the enemies'. Rit spirits were fixed to compensate for this, ranger spirits should be adjusted as well.

Traps are effectively useless in their current form. They should get the GW2 treatment: only one of each type active at once, but traps should be buffed that that one trap matters. Something to prevent foot-bombing should be put in place as well (maybe "can't be used if an enemy is within nearby range").

Bow skills are ok, IMO. Range matters, and rangers can start hitting stuff well before anyone else can. Splinter-barrage and prepared shot alone make for a good number of bow-based builds. Maybe one more non-elite energy management tool that isn't Body Shot would be nice, to enable the use of more elites. That fix to HM casting speeds a while ago made interrupting viable again, if you care to.

i sincerely hope this isn't serious.
while i do agree rangers could use a few buffs here and there, there's no reason for any major overhaul

Multiple pets isn't a bad idea but they would have to rewrite the game substantially to make it work so little chance.
We will know for sure when the much awaited Ranger reworking happens some time after Ele and Paragon get theirs.

Make all your heroes */ Ranger would give much the same effect a mob of low damage uncontrolled pets.

Wait for gw2 Humans get Summon Hounds of Balthazar 2 fiery Dogs to fight by your side so you would have 3 with your normal companion.

Wait for GW2 where pets are swappable weapons

As ruk1a noted, I'd prefer the devs to spend time to improve the way pets behave before anything else is done to them. I run beast master in PvE missions where I have to hold a bundle, and it's annoying how I have to micro the pet because it just sits there unless you use the "lock target" button. When I finally get the pet to move (and with decent 7h builds that means the target is already at 25% HP), it gets stuck on anything that's in its path...

Actually you could have a pvp split of charm animal so that it doesnt work in pvp. Rangers are fine as they are in pvp but they are pretty useless in pve (only shadowform gimmicks and Barrage). Having Charm Animal moved to expertise would limit it to ranger class only, just in case.

Until they fix pet AI properly it would be nice to have a 0 energy 0s recharge PvE skill that lets your pet shadow step to target foe.

Because strike as one isn't op enough hoping im just too drunk to catch your sarcasm lolz. And no, rangers and pets do not need buffs EXCEPT the horrible pet AI. I think anyone, even people who have never played rangers but just watched a ranger's pet wander around chasing butterflies while the party dies, would agree, pet AI is even worse than henchmen.....or Goren

Pets are actually very good, multiples would be extremely OP.

There are a lot of PvPers here, apparently. PvE rangers need a lot of improvement. The big areas are preps, nature rituals and traps (i.e. everything that makes them special). Though there are quite a number of attack skills that are baffling and underpowered.

Jesus, no, do you realize how ridiculous that could get, just in terms of bodyblocking? A team of eight with a two non-ranger, healing backline could field as many as twenty pets. That's a lot of paws on the field, and enough to put a serious damper on enemy movement. How then would skills be handled? Each skill that buffs or commands one pet would command all of them? Enraged Lunge would decimate the game. Affects a random pet? Too much chance in play for such skills to be useful.

It would just be another rough balancing act to add on top of the already shaky house of cards.

Many decent monks cant stay alive against a R/P spear chucker in RA and you want to give them 3 pets? The only thing Rangers need is better pet AI and an update to preps/spirits.

Because 8 people spamming that skill woulden't be OP at all.

been crying out for a ranger buff for years. Ever since the game started, rangers have found it the most difficult to get into groups.
