Question about Shadow Blade

I have an old Perfect Gold Req 8 Shadow Blade. I hadn't played in awhile and while playing the last few days I noticed in combat the skin on the shadow blade completely changes.

I'm not sure what causes the change but the sword gets almost double the size, and turns a lighter gray with the space between the blade now completely closed off at the end.

Is this normal? I was not aware the shadow blade ever changed while in battle.

That happens to every sword which has been casted with splinter weapon.

It's because of the Rit's weapon spell on you. I find it a bit annoying, personally. You spend a bunch of time, money, and/or effort to get the sword you want to go with your 'look' and it gets changed to something ugly.
(Not so annoying that I won't use Splinter on my Ra/Rt hero, though)

ahhhhhaaaa that explains things. I didn't think it use to do that. TY
