Well I'm new to the guru and i was looking at a post that helps you calculate the value of an item depending on different factors, and i noticed that it said:
"q8, q9, q13,etc."
weapons and staffs what does this q7, q8 ,q9 mean?

Also shield or other items have abbreviations such as:
"2wE/+45wE, -2wS/+45wS",
could anyone help me out and tell me what this means or maybe point me towards a thread that explains this, i couldn't find anything explaining this.
thanks

You will normally see these in conjunction with oldschool shields. With insc shields it's changeable so it doesn't matter as much.

haha, there are some really, really lazy people out there. As some have already pointed out "q" is an abbreviation of "req", which is an abbreviation of "requirement". Its pretty bad when people start to abbreviate their abbreviations.

^^ Not only that, but it's the wrong abbreviation. It should be, "r7, r8, r9, etc..." After all, "requirement" doesn't begin with a "q."

Actually it is neither abbreviation nor contraction, given such a convention does not meet the requirements

Anyhow, don't be fazed by the plethora of odd acronyms and odd-ball terms bandied about, the majority of which you will come to terms with quickly.

The main thing about requirement is that provided you have sufficient attributes to meet the weapons requirement, you do maximum damage (15-22 for sword for example).

q8, q9, etc, refers to the requirement of a weapon. (r8, r9, refers to PvP rank.)
Ignore all the chatter about what an abbreviation is or should be (it's not even necessarily an abbreviation, but simply a "symbol"). I like to point out things like "V8", "%", and "lb" to those people.

"-2wE/+45wE" stands for "damage -2 while Enchanted/health +45 while Enchanted" and refers to shield mods mostly.
"wS" is the same idea only "while is a Stance".
"wH" = while Hexed
