After Guild wars 2...
Durzlla
So, who else is going to keep playing GW1 after GW2 is released? I totally plan on playing both of them, not only because of the different time periods, but also because they're entirely different game styles from how it seems.
Lostzodiac
I'll probably just play Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars was fun for about 3-4 years but now it's beginning to feel slightly stale (soloing with 7 heroes becomes obscenely boring after a while.) I love the combat system of GW2 though and I'm a lot more fond of the graphical style, how the story works, and the classes seem more interesting.

had a similar thread a while back: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/a...tml?t=10479800
and as I stated in that thread...I have no plans to buy or play gw2 (I will TRY the beta)...everything I liked about gw has been deleted from gw2--so I have no reason to play it.

everything I have seen about gw2 I do NOT like---
there will be an open beta, they have said it.... this I will try--but from what I have seen so far, between what they have removed and what I wont be able to do (RL physical limitations--MOST computer games I can not play for these reasons), I highly doubt I will play it...and will NOT buy it.

I intend to wait a month after the game goes live to see how everyone thinks of it. Of course, by then, a handful of guilds will have beaten the game and start complaining on not enough content is available...
Besides, I intend to beat all of GW1 with every profession at least once. Unlike a lot of people, I don't try to do everything as soon as possible. I actually TAKE MY TIME.
In itself, I'm hoping that is what GW2 will allow me to do. If I can't take my time to go through the game at my own pace, then why bother?

I've done everything I want in GW1, just lingering on now. I would say I can't wait for GW2 but from what I have seen the graphical UI is dreadfull, it's all numbers and highlighted mobs in combat, totally destroys any sense of reality. Looks more like a 1980s arcade game. Really hoping there are options to turn lots of the UI crud off so that we can play like the marketting trailers rather than the hideous gameplay videos on youtube.
Remember the flashing pink bison in EoTN? Remember when the first gave us lafter damage numbers and icons? Game is unplayable with all that UI detritus, but in GW2 they very much seem to want to throw that in our face. I have no idea why they would go to such trouble to destry a graphically beautiful worls with numbers and flashing highlights!

It's hard to say because i havent played GW2 yet. I think it just depends on how much i like GW2... I expect GW2 to be very different from GW1... some thing may be better other things may be worse (for me!). I probably will focus on GW2 and return to GW1 so now and then to finish things that i still want to do.
ACWhammy
I will still be playing GW1 as well as GW2

I will only come back to play new content or to help guildys and friends out with their HoM.

Guild Wars 2 could end up being a really bad game and we all keep playing GW1...lol
I have the PC for it so I plan to have both games running at the same time. Should be fun.
What will keep me coming back to this game? The Heroes and team building. GW2 is a solo heavy, any one can do anything at any time type of play.
What keeps me playing is messing with hero builds and trying to have the team work off each other.
Which is good, having two different games in the same IP that allows for community building to me will be very interesting.
I think for most people though The Hall will be the big factor. Seeing all the old school players with their special items, will make new people to ArenaNet's game, will make them want to play GW1 for them. It's just human nature to want something that someone else has.

I'm running on a laptop, which I highly doubt will run gw2. I'd like to be able to play open beta and be there for launch, but unfortunately, I'll probably be unable to do so. It'll probably be a few months after gw2 is released that I can actually play it on a good computer.

When I can be bothered to finish VQ'ing Elona, I'll be GWAMM and am already 50/50 in HOM.... now I'm helping my brother to 50/50 and a mate to 30/50.
Needless to say, I'm probably getting GW2, but it will depend on the steps they take to ensure account security. If they stick with the mickey mouse dipshit bullcrap they currently have, then GW2 can kiss my arse and I'll actually start playing Oblivion...then Skyrim...then Dragon Age 1....then DA 2... then finish FF12....and start FF13... and get the half life 2 episodes, and play some X3/4/ w/e... oh and SC2, maybe Diablo3.. I figure by time I finish all those, there'll be plenty of other games waiting to be played.

There are not enough hours in the day or days in the week to play both.
If I like gw2 then I will just visit gw1 occasionally to keep it updated try new content and for festivals.
If I hate gw2 I will have to find another game and play that.
Bottom line is gw1 was and is an amazing game I would rather leave it behind now and keep the great memories than play the game to death and store up bad memories of a great game going into decline.

If GW somehow magically reverted to what it was in it's glory days (IMO) meaning factions pvp and GvG being awesome I would immediately drop everything and play GW1 again.. nothing compares to GW1 pvp.. no game ever has no game ever will. It's just that different. So is the pve.
However I highly doubt that is going to happen and it will just get more and more dead sooo of course I'll be playing GW2 for e-sport they have already said they're going to support that so I'm very happy and expect very balanced pvp from ANet.. eventually of course. They aren't going to get it right immediately.
The character customization is awesome that's a very big thing for me, oh what else.. basically I am the opposite of one of the posters above me.. I love EVERYTHING I've seen so far that's going into GW2. I'm so god damn tired of the same old WoW clones am I'm just thankful ANet realizes that some innovation needs to be brought to the dinner table.
I would never uninstall GW but doubt I will play it much, I would say I'd come back for holidays but won't those be hosted in GW2 as well? :P I can't play 2 mmo's at once.
I'll save you some disappointment... DA2 sucks, FF13 was terrible..

I will keep playing GW 1 along with GW 2. I think ANet will make playing both attractive in the interest of selling more games; this seems to make sense but time will tell. Nick the Traveler is an obsession and the Zaishen Quests are often appealing. Then too, I am fond of my heroes from a rp standpoint.
GW 2 will have expansions, perhaps some DLC. Eventually, there will be a GW 3 way down the road.
While GW 2 has troubling "features" I did not ask for, it does look like a good game that will suck me in majorly. But it was not intended to replace GW 1 and will not. Traditional mmo players may find the character control during combat annoying; so I doubt GW 2 will eat up all other mmo. Good number of us traditional mmo players are lazy. We mostly just want to use the mouse. Even so GW 2 will be GoTY and will sell an immense number of units. Cannot wait!

RA is too much fun to abandon entirely. It's perfect for short bursts of play.

I doubt very much that I will be playing GW1 after GW2 is released - I barely play it now, except to get the Nicholas items each week for no particular reason.

My wife and I just purchased GW complete collection (like literally started playing a week ago) we are having a bit of trouble getting "in to" the game so far but we know its going to be a bit harder to learn than other mmos (coming from wow / wow clones).
We are hitting it hard tonite (ive learned a lot via GW wiki and these forums over the last couple days). I know after we get further into the game we will enjoy it more but the game is going to have to get a lot funner for either of us to be interested in it after GW2 comes out, but we will see, that is still a long time away.

I'll probably log into GW daily to do the 15 minute zaishen training area - earn 2k balth faction per day in attempt to earn 3 zkeys per week. I might also log in to do the short/fast ZM or ZB to earn gold zoins too. That way I can keep progressing on the zaishen title at a rate of 400-500 zpoints PER YEAR (only z9 atm).
I figure that finding PvP matches in GW 1 after GW 2 comes out will be EXTREMELY difficult (except for the occaisional event weekend where someone MIGHT come back for AB or FA/JQ or RA). I can't envision anyone comin back to the codex or GvG event weekends, but who knows I could be wrong....

I will move on and be done with GW1. Its a great game, but its showing its age now and I've done everything I want / need to. So there really nothing left for me these days
MithranArkanere
All mistakes and bad designs I disliked from GW1 seem to have been fixed in GW2, and so I'll 'move' as soon as a I can if it runs in my computer.
But I will probably never unninstall GW1. Since they are both games I like.
I will just play way less, and come back mainly just to check updates, events new quests and festivals, if they keep adding them.
Hey, I still have both L4D and L4D2, and they are way more similar to each other.

No interest at all in gw2, like someone else I think it has nothing of the things I like in this one (it's not as though if you like a game of a series you must like the others as well...). And I've been playing gw for only 2 years now, so I have long years with it in the future. Even though it's sadder now that all my friends are tired of playing it, I never got tired of it if I do a break once in a while and alternate with other games.
I can't wait for gw2 to come out anyway, if only to stop reading "when is it coming out???" all the time

Lost my interest in GW2 - I've never been entirely sold anyway.
I think I'll wait to try the sequel before I make my final judgement, but likely its launch will cause me to quit GW1... even if I won't be bothering with GW2.
I don't have time for MMOs anymore, and GW2 doesn't seem to float my boat.

Some issues of the first game were addressed in Guild Wars 2, but I would first need to enjoy or be interested in the game for those to really matter. The game has slower recharges of skills apparently and there isn't any decent adaptation of a mesmer. I don't know what someone was thinking with making them spirit spammers with a VoR condition. I'll be sticking with Guild Wars.
aspi
It does have nothing of the things I like in GW1. But I expect gw1 to be completly empty except maybe for some american districts.
And there are many things in GW2 I do like so I will wait and see when it hits.

Looks like they are aiming for a younger public (14y olds etc), so I might not play it much or at all if pvp turns out to be a joke.
mrmango
I'll be done with GW1, probably. If I don't get GWAMM/50/50 by then I might come back to finish it but it seems unlikely.
dorin
I`ll just find some other game to play. Totally lost my interest in gw2.
Essence Snow
I won't be playing GW1 once GW2 comes out. Unfortunate the way timely schedules seem to be playing out at A-net, I fear that GW2 will be behind the times once it is actually released, That being the case I will most likely turn to some other game that is more advanced. Much like how there was nothing special about duke nukem after it was released even though it was 10 yrs in the making.
GhostKairi
Anyone who doesnt agree with this hasnt "Really played" Guild Wars1. It IS time to move on...Once GW2 is out of course.
Fluffy Kittens
Pretty much the only thing I do on GW 1 right now is snowball and snowball tourneys (doing 2 or 3 every day). After the Wintersday is gone I have no idea what I'll do next. I'll try GW 2 for sure to see from the first hand what it looks like but right now it pretty much looks like WoW clone with better graphics... but oh well at least there won't be monthly fee.
Thing I'll miss the most from GW 1 (and I already do miss it since its dead for couple years already) is HA. No game will ever have such amazing PvP format, it's just unique and could only fit in GW 1.

Reformed
If GW1 dies down because players shift away then probably just periodic visits to see how things are. Zero interest in the sequel.
Outerworld
I highly doubt I'll be getting GW2. The mesmer was its last chance to convince me but I'm dissapointed with it. As for GW; all good things must come to an end I guess...
Wild Rituals
I'm moving out next year, so I wont be playing either of them.
