Has anyone else been getting lag spikes still? I played GW a long time ago on a Pentium III computer, and never had any problems with connection or lag. It ran like a breeze.
Now, many years later, I have an amazing gaming computer that far exceeds GW expectations, so I'm confused as to why I have lag spikes. This has never happened before, and none of my other games have this problem.

Could be several things.
First, write down the IP of the server you're on (the red circle in the upper right corner). Log out, log in again and see if other servers also give you trouble (occasionally just a single server/set of servers develops trouble).
Second, check your antivirus software and similar, they may be slowing down the connection by scanning GW's packets.
Last, I too feel that the connection just isn't the same on my new computer running Win7 than it was on the old prehistoric box running WinXP...

I lost my connection due to a few last nite, so I'd imagine I'm having the same problem as well.

Well, I've been experiencing regular lag spikes ever since they moved the European servers. No idea if yours could be the same case...

I experience sever lag occasionally, but it goes away after about a day.

I logged on for the first time today and just experienced my 2nd major lagspike and then a D/C. No idea why.. servers have always been a little iffy. Currently can't connect either -_______- /wrist
I'm back in, but I believe I'm experiencing the same thing OP.
I'll add that I'm USA, and fluctuating between 70 and 700 ping (lol) oh just topped that with a 5100 ping. Oh yeah, like a bawss.
Far too laggy to even play at the moment.. guess I'll try later tonight. :/

Yup 4 of my guildies all got DC'd there
2 of us where in a Mission but locations are ( UK & Canada )
Another got booted from dungeon ( USA )
Another from JQ ( Europe )
Current pings are about 12k

Poland here.
No lags for well over a month (well, had some in overpopulated town districts during WD, but that's normal), no DCs either. No problems with reconnecting after i logged out for some time. No problem with reconnecting back into a VQ after i accidentally kicked 'reset' on my machine.
Had no DC during the last hour.
e: oh, i was in Kamadan, American districts, for the last few hours. No problems.

Got the same on American districts. I switched to Europeans ones and the lag is gone.

I'm in the UK was playing EU servers they where to bad swapped to American districts that was even worse
moved to int dist they are working just fine no troubles what so ever. Got a funny feeling the servers have took quite a battering from wintersday

Was attempting to help guildies with Gate of Madness and got kicked off midway and not offered the option to rejoin mission

got dc'd was able to reconnect..after 3 times then it was so many lag spikes,rubberbanding and other crap. closed gw and took 2 closing to even be able to reconnect. i tried moving to another distric (usually play in asian) to euro russian and stilll laggy. >> to bad to play atm will try later..gg anet!

All seems fine. Changed to Euro districts as American were the only place I saw a problem, but it's all cleared up since I got home.

In the last hours i've been having an average of 1800 with spikes of 20k ping...and I'm not even talking about twons or rezonings, all this while vanquishing...and even 2 dcs in the last 10 minutes, luckily it made me reconnect after. I've never ever seen something similar by far in all the time I've played GW, that's just crazy and totally unplayable!

i had removed and readded gw a couple days before final and it seemed to be okay but then it got laggy/dc's badly. then it settled down some but since that day when we had massive dc's all over gw i havent been able to stay on gw for longer then a few minutes. >>

The game is almost unplayable for me today... my ping is jumping from 30 to 15000 a couple of times per minute. I managed to play a bit on the international district (normal = euro server) but now that is going downhill as well. Even my guidhall is a no-go-zone atm.
Finding some info about whats going on is hard. The official support forums are a mess atm... all pictures and some texts are gone. And guildwars.com is only showing network news from July 25th 2011

I ended up with spikes of 27k yesterday so I totally gave up playing...
What I find strange is, I expected a lot of people here saying they had the same problem, as usually happens, as the only friend I had online had it even worse than me. And instead, we're apparently only few this time but with so much lag that it's unplayable?
