Argos Vanquisher Mod
Songbringer
Ok, so I did a search on this(actually a few because it took awhile to figure out search terms that made me get a list of threads that weren't in the 1000s and btw the 30s wait time is annoying lol XD)
So, this is what I found:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/a...s+vanquish er
After reading it my question isn't quite answered. So here it is:
How does this work? I am not really looking for an exact answer because I am sure Argos isn't gonna come into this thread and give it to me.
I didn't even know it existed until a maybe 2 hours ago an alliance mate was talking about it. I feel as though without doing some sort of injection that it wouldn't be possible to show the information that it shows. Normally, I wouldn't care...and just wouldn't use it but I feel as a community we should try to come to an answer that can be largely supported by the mass because it is on wiki under there list of mods and if it is there I feel as though it should be 100% trustworthy. While, every thread on the subject has been left at use at your own risk.
The reason I feel like this is because less savy computer people are just going to accept that stuff on wiki is ok and use it. I wouldn't want to see them caught up in a ban fest for something they didn't even understand.
Looking for some people that can maybe logic through how it would be possible to get the information that it shows(foes killed, remaining foes, and max foes in area) without breaking any rules. I don't know much about the .dat for gw's so the only thing I could think of was maybe that information once you zone into an area is put somewhere in the .dat and constantly rewritten over every time you zone into it. So if that were the case it could just be reading that information...but would it(and by it I mean the vq mod) know about pop-ups? Would it calculate them into the maximum before or after they pop?
Just curious if anyone has taken the time to really check it out and see how it works so we can come up with some kind of answer more then use at your own risk cause we don't know or care. Although, the use at your own risk will always be there even if someone says "Yea, I checked it and it is fine."
Not really looking for responses that are 1 sided opinions or use at your own risk. Looking for an answer that can be backed up with a screen shot or a link to another thread that I missed that already talks about the subject.

Do you really need it? The current bar with progress and mission map are good enough to estimate the number of foes left. (If you wiki the average number of foes in the area)
Notice that it's GwVanquisher.exe, so it's 3rd side party software and using it is agains EULA, but ppl still use it and don't get banned as well as GWDressUp.
I haven't tried myself and I'm never going to do so.

No, I don't need it I was just curious. Didn't plan on using it but I do like mods and the idea of being able to mod games(not just GW's). Creating mods and understanding how they work is a hobby of mine.
Edit: And yes, what man are you talking about/why would I believe the person who made it unless he could prove it which I don't think could be done through PM's in game. My reason for wanting to know about it is more so I can direct people in the right direction when they ask about it not for wanting to use it myself as I already have 2 GWaMM's and the last one I am working on has LG Vanquisher already(no more vq's for me yay)

Searching with Google works, and there's no 30 second wait either.

Did you look at what came up? First, I will talk about the 2nd link because that only has 2 things it brings back. 1 is to the link I have in my OP. The 2nd doesn't talk about the program at all at least in the first few pages I looked through...what that thread refers to is Argo the henchie
Ok, the 1st link. Still has over 100 responses. 90% of which pertain to DressUp or nothing about the VQ mod. 9% of which talk about the price checker. The last 1%...well that again is the what I linked to in my OP. Maybe look at what google returns instead of just telling me to search better?
for no one else caring if the program could potentially hurt people and trying to figure the program out.

There's no interest about GWVanquisher b/c noone needs it and most of ppl can estimate the number of foes without that mod, using it is not 100% safe. Thus ppl don't use. Thus ppl don't know how it works. Thus noone can tell you about it.

Nowhere did I tell you to do anything. I presented an alternative method, including a proof that Google found the same link that your Guru search returned. Both searches returned that link you found within the first 2 results.

This isn't really a question we can answer. Since the code isn't open source there's no 100% for sure way of any of us knowing exactly how it works. You should try messaging the software developer, even an attempt is better than nothing.
