Silent Thread Deletion
Turkey Baster
I noticed many threads vanish with no indication to the user as of why. I understand GWG policy, but why not inform the user with at least a simple answer or a thread of what to avoid posting besides the obvious? I think most of the reason is because of the parent site that enforces strict rules.

It's logical to delete threads that don't belong to GWG. (e.g. adverts)
If the thread was deleted, the mod did it for a good reason and you don't need to know why was it deleted at all.

There are many reasons why threads and posts are deleted. Sometimes it's because it's a dupe of an already-established thread, sometimes a post does not contribute to the discussion in a meaningful way, sometimes it's because of flames, insults or trolling (or replies to it). Sometimes people delete their own posts.
The reason we don't PM every time is because it's not very practical to do so; the mods do a lot of work as it is. If they feel a deletion or close is serious enough to warrant a PM, they will send you one. If not, you are more than welcome to PM any of the mods or admins (Jenn and myself only as far as admins go) and ask.
Edit: And no, it has nothing to do with Curse. We make our own rules & guidelines.

lemming had sent me a PM which as Kvinna said really is a lot more work to PM every time. Thanks for clearing up the part about Curse, thought it had everything to do with them.
