Screen resolution issue

So I just replaced my 10 year old dinosaur with a brand spanking new PC. But there's a problem...Windows 7 seems to not recognize my TV as a plug and play monitor. The display works, but I can't get GW to run in my TV's native resolution (1680x1050). I was able to set my desktop resolution with the NVIDIA control panel, but GW is missing the option.

That is odd indeed. You are using the TV as a single main monitor, right? Not extended?

It may be a plug'n'play issue. If you are using the HDMI input, you could try using the VGA connection instead. Or try the HDMI if you're using VGA.
I've seen many posts about similar issues with using a TV as a monitor. It seems to happen to some models more than others. Basically, if Windows doesn't detect the particular model and just describes it as "Generic Display", you'll have problems.
There are also some issues around the VGA or HDMI cables lacking certain wires needed for the P'n'P.

I think it is a plug and play issue. My new video card doesn't have a VGA out, just 2x DVI and 1x mini HDMI. Right now I'm stuck using the DVI/VGA adapter that came with the video card, since my TV doesn't have a DVI port. I also only have a VGA cable to work with. (come to think of it, I've never actually seen a DVI cable)

Some cheap DVI to VGA adapters can leave out the p'n'p wires, and some DVI ports can also lack them (very rarely).
- try using a 'better' DVI/VGA adapter (although, how you can tell if it's better is a problem)
- try using the other DVI port (if you haven't already)
- try a new VGA cable. Some pre-p'n'p cables lack the p'n'p connections.
- try using a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable.

MY VGA cable is pretty new, and it worked with my old video card. (recognized as a PnP monitor) Maybe it is the adapter, though it shipped with the video card.
Edit: After sifting through some old hardware, I found another DVI/VGA adapter that didn't have pins missing, (The adapter that shipped with the card had missing pins) but it still hasn't made a difference.
