Lack of gameplay incentive to finish GWAMM
mlandry
I know this has probably been discussed before but it's sad that it's never been "fixed".
My warrior has been on 25+ titles for about 3 years now. Today he's at 28 titles, missing about 4.4k drunkard points and 7.5k sweet tooth point to get 30.
My biggest issue, and the reason I've never finished it, is that there are no other fun titles for me to get. Even maxing party animal was a gigantic chore (and I don't have LDoA since this an old character).
There's no incentive to finish these titles. In the time I went from 25 to 28 titles, I played a mesmer through 21 titles, then 4 other characters completing all of normal (quests, bonuses on missions, WiK, etc). I enjoy playing the game, like I imagine most of you do (well, I ENJOYED, because after 3000+ hours I'm dead tired of playing it).
I truly want to finish GWAMM for GW2. I've had 50/50 HoM for over a year now if I recall correctly but just playing random areas for the sake of making money and buying items that I will just spam is very unsatisfying. You definitely do not get enough gold to just max them by playing normally through all the PvE titles, especially if you like buying different armor sets but even without that since Skill Hunter takes a bunch of gold anyway.
Can anyone relate to this experience? I would max out a fun title that actually made you play through things to acquire it in a matter of days (for example, a title for completing every quest possible). Guild Wars is probably the game I've invested the most amount of time into in my life and definitely one of my favorites but this will always hold it back for me : that I need to max money/grind titles for GWAMM, which is pretty much just a sign of "completed PvE" IMO; it hurts my OCD (ok I'm not really OCD but not getting 30 maxed titles is quite annoying for me).
I mean, exploration titles are somewhat of a chore because of the wall hugging, but at least you have a goal in mind : go to this place and explore all of it! Next!
But with money titles (not just the 3 10k points ones, but lucky/unlucky and wisdom/treasure hunter --- there are so many of them) I just don't have a track in mind. I despise farming and, despite playing GW since release, my farming attempts stop at ~2-3 DoA runs and some 55 monk stuff long ago, simply because it's boring. I always end up logging in, doing pretty much nothing for 15 minutes in town then logging off.
And getting about 1.2 million gold is not really challenging. I've made that much pretty quickly in the past just playing the game. But playing the game solely to get gold is something I can't bring myself to do, no matter how addicted I am. I've run out of quests and after playing 6 characters through NM, 2 of those through HM, I feel it's too much just to get 3 money titles for one character.
Overall, I just wish GWAMM didn't require that much money grinding. 3 money titles is a lot IMO, unless you get both saviors but that's a long grind as well.

What makes you think there "should" be a gameplay incentive to complete GWAMM?
Others would make an argument that there has been too much incentive to grind titles and this has caused an overall detrimental effect to the GW gameplay.

Without a gameplay incentive, I would've stopped playing GW years ago. I know others may feel differently but I at least like to strive towards a goal when I play.

Then stop?

My Necromancer needed 6k+ Drunkard points to hit GWAMM. I decided to start polishing my Mesmer by doing the Zaishen Vanquishes to work on both the vanquisher title for him as well as making gold. It took around two and a half months, but I managed to finish off the Drunkard title for my Necromancer through a combination of straight bought Drunkard items & using ZCoins to buy Firewater.

I never bothered much with ZQuests since I already had all of them done a long time ago. I might just do that instead.

You have probably the two easiest titles left !!!
gremlin
Titles can be fun but for me the incentive to give up such a great portion of my spare time simply to be able to have the title show on my characters wasn't enough.
If they had offered material gains for GWAMM I might have made an attempt at it.
Unique armour and weapon set for completing same, now your talking I would have gone for that.

To be honest, with no effort you could have easely farmed the points needed this wintersday, so this to me is just a qq thread..

Might be a grind, if you want to call it like that, but it's really that easy, you want it apparently, why does there have to be another reason then?

You were never supposed to have any incentive to finish titles. They should be purely cosmetic additions that you do for fun.
Oh wait I forgot that Nightfall happened.

The replies here are so harsh
You shouldn't strive for GWAMM but strive for 50/50 HoM. You get GW2 rewards so the incentive is there. By the time you get 50/50 HoM you will be close to GWAMM. There is also incentive to get GWAMM because characters on the account you link in GW2 will be able to display it. You have to find the incentive yourself really. Mine was that my Warrior could retire and I could start playing my other professions more. I think what really is bugging you is that the game is boring as hell now, which is true. Most of us half expected GW2 to be out in 2010-2011, but here we are still in GW1 jerking off in some random outpost because were MMO hipsters and too cool for a city. I would suggest getting another game on the side and get GWAMM when you feel like it. One thing that helps keep a game fresh is not forcing yourself to play when you don't really want to. Too many people do it because they want to be first and/or considered "1337", too bad its probably a form of OCD.
I would restrain yourself from making threads of this nature. They do nothing but feed trolls.

lets make GW into something like pokemon, add different pokemon (stuff) yearly that way people keep playing, also lets make GW into a trading card game also
oh oh how about something like Diablo normal mode , hard (nightmare) mode then HELL mode, where you CANNOT use Heros or Henchies
*sarcasm end*

Either you want to put in the effort to get GWAMM or you don't. It's that simple. It is not something that needs to be "fixed" by A-Net.

My last titles were Party, Sweet, EotN, Kurzick, Luxon.
Halloween and Wintersday gave me the possibility of finishing the first two (using all the items was another issue...I kept those items in my inventory for months).
With the Hero update I decided to finish the EotN title.
As for Kurzick and Luxon, I was missing around 7 million factions. I got it with FA over 3 months, because playing in FA can get pretty fun.

I have yet to get gwamm on any of my characters....closest is 26? titles....did all the easy ones (and no I bought NONE of my party/sweet/drunkard points for THREE characters)...just have the account wide titles to do mostly (and vanquishing on the one with 26?).....when I find I am bored with working on titles, I usually start a new character (or new account----)...and do the easy junk with them, that usually hits me in the spot where I want to play again and work on those .....last few titles (though dont think I will be finishing chestrunning anytime soon---)....
take a break. If you feel bored or forced you will NOT have fun playing the game. taking some time off will allow your desire to play to return.

You need an incentive for an incentive? The GWAMM title track is your incentive for finishing other titles, that and the incentive to finish that title track is to carry over the title of GWAMM into GW2. It's not a super awesome incentive, but it was never intended to be.
fireflyry
If you find grind boring GWAMM will be a struggle, if not a pain in the ass.
It's pretty simple.

Just dont do it then if you don't think you have any incentive.
My main is 27/30 and it's gonna take a while simply because i refuse to VQ. Find a way of doing the titles that you enjoy (eg, i like FA/JQ/AB for kurz title).

Really the whole "reward" mechanic seems back-ass-wards when you break it down.
