The last day of Chinese New Year is February 6th Monday, if they do Canthan New Year after that day, they might as well just call it Anyday New Year.

and yes, it looks like Superbowl day again.

Whatever, if it happens the same time as the Superbowl, that just means I get some easy LOLs to go along with my racing. Might help to take the edge off from the occasional raeg.

I suppose the Superbowl would annoy some Americans, I even watch the Superbowl myself when its on being in Europe but for the rest of the planet its hardly an issue, most of us dont mind in the slightest if CNY is on at the same time as the Superbowl to be honest.

Will the mini greased lightning still be rewarded this year for RBR racing? I only ask because the wintersday art contest was cancelled, so perhaps Anet is not giving away in-game prizes any more.

Yes I know, but it is my yearly gripe, there might be some kind of cosmic upheaval if I did not bitch about it at least once.

Anet should run the festival on Pro-Bowl weekend(weekend prior to SB) noone would care since that game is a joke anyway.

I don't see why they should take into consideration any sporting event when planning their holiday events, especially one that's irrelevant to the majority of the world. I'm sure they're just trying to leave some time after Wintersday.

I agree with this. I realize that none of this matters to the non-americans out there, but us American sports fans take super bowl weekend very seriously .

America is half their user base. Europe combined is the other half, but mostly France and Germany. The rest of the world is what is irrelevant to Anet.

Wait what? The Chinese new year starts tomorrow. It should have been this last weekend or next weekend. Why are we waiting until February?

Probably to dodge current flux...but eh beats me the sense of making a festivity weeks after the real one. It's like doing Halloween on late November imho.

Bit off topic but that should also be the case with festival hats, why not have a quest(chain) to obtain them at the start of the event.
That way you can wear them for the duration of the event and not only the last day of it.

I believe they are called parting gifts... not "starting" gifts"...

This hat is the same every year--so if you were around last year (or any previous canthan new years finale) you should (might) still have one around to wear during the festivities.

The difference here I believe is that Little Jack is an NPC that gives out the prizes based on who's on the list, whereas for the contest winners, they have to be sent their prize through... whatever method they use to do that, point being that it's not some stationary NPC as far as I can tell. Unless they completely break the code for handing out those prizes, or they get scared about another "multiple highscore list" mishap as last year and don't believe they can fix it in time, I don't foresee any real reason about why they wouldn't have the mini GLs come back.
