Hello everyone I just noticed and did a read on the thread about the player asking for information on the core skill packages, and i never knew about this before, but after doing a bit of research into what they do and the information the players were providing in that thread, i've decided to buy the ones most beneficial to me as an assassin.
Being new to the game, i'm not sure what packs would be more viable for me to purchase, if purchasing all of them is worth it, i'll definetly do so, but after time of course, with that said, i'm looking to buy just two at the moment.
My build is currently an Assassin/Elementalist for the Energy thing, but i'm going to be swapping this to Assassin/mesmer as soon as i'm able to, i'm mostly looking to farm end-game and just solo, i'm not big on grouping too much.
So, what packs would you guys suggest? My mind is telling me to go for the Core and Factions one, but i could be wrong.
Also! I made this new thread as i didn't want to derail the topic or hijack the thread, i hope this hasn't broken any of the forum rules, i couldn't see any that this was breaking!
Tl;dr - New player, intends to solo most content, Assassin/mesmer is the build i'm hoping to play.
Edit: To save on creating another thread as well, i'll quickly add this in.
I'm currently playing as an assassin in-game, level 14 at the moment and just finished off the quests on the 'starter' island area(?) and i'm now in some big city type place, with a marketplace and what-not, i'm hoping to start picking up some heroes soon, so i can customize who i have in my party, as customization is a big part for me, am i close or far away form achieving this? (From a new players perspective of course).
Skill pack Question - Assassin

You'll have to head to Elona or EoTN to pick up heroes. Since you're already in Kaineng Center/ The Marketplace, you can do this now.
As to skill unlock packs, again, I'd say Factions for an assassin, since most of the skills used in the common pve sin builds are from factions.

Ah nice one, i'll have to have a look around Kaineng tomorrow when i'm playing then, i only managed to get a brief look into it, just arrived there then logged off for the night. I assume Elona is a place in Kaineng & not the name of an NPC?
Thanks for the info on the skill pack as well, it did seem logical that Factions would hold the most suitable assassin skills given that that's the expansion they were introduced in. Just wanted a second opinion before making a decision and forking out some cash!

Elona is the land where the Nightfall campaign takes place. If you have multiple campains on your account you can travel between them when you reach a port city--which is Kaineng in Factions. When you enter Kaineng city it should display some text on your screen, directing you to talk to certain NPCs who will give you the quests you need to reach any of the other campaigns.

Do note that you won't just get the skills on your assassin, you just have them unlocked.
That means PvP characters and heroes can use them, but you still have to get them through tomes or skill trainers.

In case you weren't aware, you can only get heroes from the campaign "Nightfall", (and some from EotN,) but there are no heroes in factions.
Also, getting the skill packs won't mean you instantly get all the assassin skills; the skills will be unlocked for use in PvP, and for the use of heroes, but you will still have to buy all the skills from in game skill trainers on your PvE character, like you do without any packs.
