Hi.. i first played GW about 6 years ago.
Yesterday i decided to get the game reinstalled(original GW,no expansions)and try and get my lvl 19 necro to 20.
I remembered now why he is still 19 .I'm stuck in Bloodstone fen? i think.
Its the end bit where you have to kill Justiciar Hablion.
I remember joining a few groups that failed a few times and i could never do it on my own with henchmen.
Same problem now and tbh i really dont feel like i can trudge through the route and kill the mobs, collect seeds again.

Is there anyway to advance through the game because it seems i cant get to 20 unless i find some new quests or missions.
I found some place that someone sent me to but i think that was some sort of lvl 20 place that i wasn't ready to go to?

I'm very confused with the game after being spoon fed through warcraft. At level 19 it feels that i dont know anything about the game and have been trapped in my own little instance.
So i have a few questions for if i do get to 20.

Firstly are there some sort of "dungeons" that 20's run.

Why do people farm and where can you buy stuff from people and why would
you want to buy anything?I didn't think there was "gear" as such.I don't think i've seen any vendors, unless i forgot during the 6 years and i've not seen anyone selling anything in chat.

Can you only pvp by making a pvp character?
In pvp you can only have a small amount of abilities,so what makes GW pvp so skillful? I hear it is..I have done a bit before and i did get owned but having a lack of abilities makes me think its just what you know over gaming skill?

Is there anything i need or should buy expansion wise?

Thanks if anyone can answer my noob questions.

You can bypass Bloodstone Fen with a run to Sanctum Cay or Droknar's Forge, both of these options will put you past that mission in the storyline and with higher level enemies you can fight to level up.

Dungeons are not run the same way they are in WoW, there isn't necessarily an area where level 20s congregate to take on dungeons as a group. Most dungeons these days are run by runners (or rushers, if you prefer, given another thread debacle >.<) who have a specified build to get you through the dungeon and have it completed. People generally don't run team builds anymore as the name of the game now is speed clear, which is unfortunate for people who enjoy getting balanced builds for missions/dungeons.

People farm for valuable crafting items, such as globs of ectoplasm and obsidian shards or items for armbraces of truth. These items are high in value because they are used for specific items and rewards. People buy these items because not everyone can farm them and buying them from other players is faster than farming them yourself.

Any character can PvP, its not restricted to PvP only character. PvP character have an advantage over PvE character though because they can use any skills you unlocked on your account and create weapons with any mods you have unlocked as well. This flexibility lets PvP characters create more varied builds, where as a PvE character is limited to the skills you have and items on that character. I'll let people who PvP give you some better advice then I can on skill.

As far as expansions, if you are looking to add stuff to your Hall of Monuments for GW2, then you will need the Eye of the North expansion. Beyond that, it comes down to personal preference. Nightfall has heroes which can be a great benefit if you plan on taking on stuff by yourself.

There is more info that can be added here, but hope this helps explain some of the basic info and helps to answer your questions.

The trick to beating Hablion is to wait until his cronies move away from him and take them out one group at a time. (Going around to the left/right and then back around to the other side before aggroing the bum)

- Yes, you can skip all of the jungle by getting a runner from Lion's Arch to Sanctum Cay and pick up the story-line there.

That could be a lot of places - Temple of Ages, Embark Beach - Great Temple of Balthazar, etc.

- The places called "dungeons" in GW are all in Eye of the North expansion. But there are several "elite" areas -Fissure of Woe, The Underworld, and Sorrow's Furnace. (factions and Nightfall also have elite areas that are sorta dungeon-like)

People farm as a means of making money. During festivals, people farm certian areas for the special drops, like Lunar Tokens that dropped during the Canthan New Year festival. In Prophecies, Lion's Arch is the main trading town. Kamadan in Nightfall is where most people conduct business. While you can't buy/sell armor, weapons, off-hands and their mods can be bought or sold. It's not so much the stats that people are shopping for, they're looking for the skins. Skill tomes, consumables, and mini-pets are some of the other more prevelant items that get traded between players.

You can take your PvE characters to PvP, but it's better to roll a PvP character. As for the rest, I'll leave that to a PvPer to answer.

If you're thinking about getting GW2, you'll definitely want to get Eye of the North so you'll be able to record your GW1 deeds in the HoM to unlock GW2 stuff. I'd highly recommend getting everything (you can find the Trilogy + EoTN fairly cheap) Ihave no love for factions, but with Nightfall and EotN, you can get Heroes, which are henchmen-like NPCs that you can outfit with weapons, runes & insignias, and skill bars. to your liking - MUCH nicer than regular henchmen!

Come on now...you should still do Bloodstone Fen (and the next mission which can also be frustrating for some players...Aurora Glade...crystal running ftw).

Theres a few missions in each campaign that can be extremely frustrating (dzagonur bastion and jennurs horde in nightfall, eternal grove in factions, the two previously mentioned ones in prophecies, etc) until you get the hang of it and doing it is the only way to get the hang of it. To this day i still hate dzagonur bastion but i still do it.

If you need help with any just whisp me in game if you want. Or better yet, if youve not already done so, join a guild. There are still some guilds out there not chuck full of elitist brats that will be willing to help out.

Yep with Hablion, make sure you kill everything else off first - ignore him at first and just go for his cronies. He's tricky when he's lumped in together with them, but he'll drop pretty quickly when he's on his own.
