Title sums it up. Many new users and/or new players find the outdated PvX.wikia, and then post topics expressing difficulty using (outdated)builds found there, or worse, link from the fanfic [email protected].
I don't know how to check dismissed announcements if you have one already, but some form of notice, or post in a sticky thread in Q&A and Campfire, may help reduce common confusion. I do know that the Campfire and Q&A stickies already point to Curse rather than Wikia.
I realize there is a notice on the front page of those sites, but new users and players seem to be missing that somehow. Given that, I'm not sure if any notice here will be seen either, or if there's some reason preventing such a recommendation.
Troll suggestion: Add wikia to the word filter. RED ENGINE GO RED ENGINE
Inform users that Wikia is bad.

The problem, as always, is going to be visibility. As you've pointed out there are messages on the wikia's but they're not getting through. Heaps of people ignore stickies. Another big issue is people usually say 'omg go to pvxwiki noob', but when you google it (pvxwiki) wikia comes up first (and second, for the record). That's why when I recommend it I either make sure to post the link or specify 'gwpvx.com' rather than 'pvxwiki'. If people could start doing that it would be great, but that's easier said than done. A multi purpose announcement - telling both the users to avoid wikia and existing users to be more specific could be a good way to go about it. Let's see what the admins think. In the meantime, I'll take a look at the stickies and see what could be done.

The main issue is not reading stickies. Granted that until a few days ago the Campfire Guideline posts were incorrect,they have now been fixed. Haven't had a chance to check the rest, ie:guides
In the meantime,I've added a temporary announcement to the entire Hall of Knowledge. It's the first thing you see in a subforum so it may or may not prove of worth,time will tell. It's set to show for 7 days but I can replace/lengthen if needs be.

I like Marty's suggestion of switching to "GWPvX," or gwpvx.com when referring to PvX. Google returns gwpvx.com as the first result for a search of gwpvx or gw pvx.

Where would this note go? We're aware that people don't read stickies but the announcement has got some views since it was put up.
There is another notification/announcement that the admins can add if this persists. I don't think we can do much more than that,other than change posts as the incorrect sites are linked.

The stickies all state that gwpvx (and is linked) is the site to use,I don't think adding anything else is needed really. That is of course assuming the sticky is read
