Newbie Questions

Somewhere in this thread I found out that it is better to have a pvp only character. The question is..this pvp only character....can I get Kurzic points on it for example and use it on my role playing character?
And I sometimes see players that have their name dark blue and some players name is light blue....why?

Lyv
Luxon, Kurzick and Balthazar faction points are shared for all characters on your account, so yes.
Light blue = not in a group.
Dark blue = in a group (with other players/heroes/hench). If the character is the leader of the group, you'll see a number above his head, which displays the current size of the group.

Recently I found some mods on wikipedia. Are they legal so to say...or can I get banned for using them? Also if they are ok for me to use can someone tell me where I should dump the files. I only have 4 files in my GW folder.
Marty Silverblade
These? Read the warnings on that page and the Anet reponses here. There is nothing inherently wrong with TexMod. Tons of people use it. That said, Anet don't support or officially condone it so if you download some dodgy software (viruses etc) or somehow otherwise screw up your game it's your problem.
Regarding file location, TexMod can be installed anywhere you like and the .tpf files (the textures) can also be put wherever you like. After you've downloaded everything just run TexMod and select your gw.exe and the .tpf files as appropriate. It's not hard.

I just started GW this week and have a few questions.
Do all skill trainers in the campaign you're currently in have the same skills available? Or as you progress in the game do the "higher" up areas have more? Would it be wise to go to the varying campaigns to gather all your skills to help level? Are there any sites that give builds and hero builds for just leveling with limited gear / skills and not clearing out zone a or b?

There is however a difference between buying skills and unlocking skills. You unlock a skill as soon you acquire it on any character on your account. By doing so, all skilltrainers in the campaign the skill belongs to will sell that skill to any character on your account. some scenario's:
Give you want searing heat (prophecy's ele skill). This is a skill almost at the end of the prophecy's campaign. you have several possibility's to obtain it.
1: You play/walk through the campaign till you have access to the right outpost (wich takes some time)
2: you play PvP and you unlock the skill with balthasar points, then also the skilltrainer in lions arch will sell it to you
3: you have another PvE character who already played through, so you buy the skill in the outpost with that character. then you change character and buy it in that campaign at any skill trainer (e.g. again the skilltrainer in lions arch.
if you don't have acces to the appropiate campaign yet you can also use a regular tome after unlocking it on your account. This is however only needed when you can't get to the campaign yet where the skill belongs to.
-edit- just a quick note, in the example of searing heat, you can also go to kaineng center and buy the duplicate skill tenai's heat (it's a duplicate skill). But there are only a few duplicate skills.

Can I have both supporter of the kurzicks and supporter of the luxons title?
And Drunkard and Incorigible Ale-Hound count as 2 titles?

2-nope, just two ranks of the same title

and I recently got 2 quests where I need 10k points for luxon and kurzick. If I finish one quest will my points from the other faction dissapear?
EDIT : Quests are befriending the luxons/kurzick

Nope, the quest only requires you to have those points, but doesn't make you spend them, and you lose the other side ones only when spending
akelarumi
Still it is recommended to do one of the two quests, spent the points, then do the other. Those points are valuable (even if you buy shards or chunks for them, you get nice cash for it).
I'm Kurzick supporter most of the time (Luxons Sucks!!), so whenever I find myself in the urgent need of visiting the jade sea, I dump all my kurzick points and when I'm finished I dump all my luxon points. Just to not waste them.
keep in mind that using factions contributes to kurzick/luxon suporter title track. when spent, the points are added to the title track and you can't loose points in that bar.

Umm ok so those quests don't take my faction points..GREAT! Now my question is...I have 4k points on Kurzick and 3k on luxon. After i get like 10k on each and I finish those quests....Can I sell Luxon points and keep my kurzick points? and then spend the kurzick points?
And if I can how can I sell the Luxon points?
And if I can how can I sell the Luxon points?
cosyfiep
sorry, no, if you turn in your luxon points you loose the same amount of kurzick points (due to your allegiance to said side)....its better to turn in your points to one side before accumulating points for the other side.
To turn in your points talk to the faction representative-kurzick bureacrat or luxon scavenger(one in house zu heltzer and cavalon...as well as jade quarry and fort aspenwood, etc)
and yes, you can work on maxing both luxon and kurzick (I am doing it..but much farther along on kurzick than luxon).
might want to check out: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Kurzick_Bureaucrat
as well as: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Luxon_Scavenger
(and no you can not 'sell' your faction, you turn it in for rewards like skills, jade or amber, or helping raise your alliance faction etc).

Okay so I just finished Factions with my A/Mo soon to be A/W and I wanted to start Prophecies story line...but I get to Lions Arch which makes me wonder something....from mission do I get to start. Will I be starting from Gates of Kryta? The 7th mission? Also from what mission do I start in NF?
Also if I took Shiro's return on NM can I get one for HM? and do I get to keep the book or after I give it for factions it will be forever lost?

D'alessio seaboard is the first mission for foreign characters. You should have a primary quest that you picked up in Lion's Arch which will lead you to D'alessio. If you want to experience the Prophecies storyline from the beginning then just create a new Prophecies character.
Nightfall has a similiar setup. There is a mini-mission that only foreign characters do and you'll pick up Consulate Docks as your first real mission.
Note: foreign characters can do the earlier missions in a campaign (but not the quests) just by travelling "backward" thru a campaign to those mission points, and if you're going for the Protector/Guardian titles you'll definitely want to do those earlier missions.
There are HM/NM versions of all the books except for the Young Heroes tome which only has a HM version. You can pick them up from the same NPC that gave you the NM version.

Ok I heared that it's pretty easy to go to 40 in HoM....So i've been wondering...What is the fastest way to get from 0 to 30 and maybe 40?
I read the guide and it gave me a pretty good idea of what I need to do but....since I am new to the game I don't exactly know some areas/systems/rewards.

To answer the question, the FASTEST way to get to 40/50 is to already have a large amount of gold (I'd est. 150-200e) and buy your way to it, via buying title services (most expensive, preferably not), the armor, minis (second cheapest), weapons, or hero armors (cheapest).

Okay I do not have a lot of money so... Let's say... How mamy points can I get from simply finishing the campaigns NM and HM???

Long Answer: You get points based on the amount of titles you have in the HoM, and not on an individual-title basis (exception: PvP title, but unimportant for the discussion at-hand). The Honor Monument(the Title Dedication area in the HoM), scales as follows:
ANY Title Statue- +2 Points
ANY 5 Title Statues- +3 Points
ANY 10 Title Statues- +1 Point
ANY 15 Title Statues- +1 Point
and points are scaled similarly etc. until 40 Titles, at which point, any further rewards are no longer calculated by the amount of titles in your possession.
By finishing all campaigns in NM and HM, I'll assume you have not obtained the bonus/master mark on all missions. With that in mind, you will have gained no displayable titles, but the statues of:
-Hero of Tyria
-Hero of Cantha
-Hero of Elona
(the above statues only require you to complete the respective campaign in NM)
If you do obtain all bonuses and master marks on every mission in both NM and HM, you will additionally obtain:
-Protector of Tyria (NM)
-Protector of Cantha (NM)
-Protector of Elona (NM)
-Guardian of Tyria (HM)
-Guardian of Cantha (HM)
-Guardian of Elona (HM)
-Legendary Guardian (Having the above six titles)
Assuming you have all of the above, that is effectively 10 titles; where it scales in your HoM is relative (see the above chart).
Note: The EotN Campaign scales entirely separate and different than the others.

I also suggest that you create a pvp only ranger and create a trapper's build for him so you can farm zaishen elite for ~20 mins every day for essentially 6k/day. Once you're done with the campaigns you should have quite a lot of zkeys to sell for a nice sum of money to buy minis and materials for armor/weapons which you havn't gotten by yourself yet. http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:Team_-_Ba...ishen_Trappers
I suggest you try to max out the monument of fellowship yourself because it's rather easy and will save you some money. Aquire as many titles as you feel is reasonable. 5 statues give a large reward and is easy enough, if you feel like you can go for more then do that and you'll be able to cut corners elsewhere. Most titles are timeconsuming rather than dependant on your pocketbook.

Okay I want to start vanquishing, however it seems hard. And most people tell me that it's because I do not have good heroes, and that I should invest in a good team of 7.
Can anyone tell me which professions should these 7 heores be? And which heroes and give me some builds for them?

Maybe have a look around here and get some ideas and post your builds for feedback.
Meanwhile if you go through NF and EoTN you will collect the heroes you need along the way anyhow.

Okay guys as of 30 minutes ago I achieved 29/50 in HoM.
My goal since I got in this game 2 months ago was to get 30/50 but I'm being a little bit pressured by several things and I do not have much time for playing this awesome game.
Also I recently spent a LOT of money on several things to make 29/50 so now I am sort of broke.
At the moment I have 7 statues in HoM those being : Hero + Protector Statues and Sorrow's Furnance statue.
I am really close to get Guardian of Cantha and Kurzick statue. So that will be 9 statues.
The problem is......THE LAST STATUE. So my question is which statue could I aquire fast and cheap?
My IGN : Uvell The First (feel free to see what I have in my HoM and please give me the best tip for my statue).
Thank you in advance for the feedback I will get.

Both Luxon and Cartographer are easy. They'll take a bit of time but they won't cost you anything. Using TexMod for Carto will speed up the process (though people who want it generally do it as they go rather than retroactively, but it doesn't matter). The other guardian titles are good options, although the difficulty will obviously scale depending on how good your builds are (and again, it won't cost you anything (unless you hire a runner) so you can spend any excess cash on skills if you need them).

I have ran Slavers Exile once, for Hardmode if i can complete the other bosses in normal mode? then kill Duncan in HM and that counts as HM complete?
EtherealSkys
Correct, you can kill all of the other bosses in NM, and then just go kill Duncan in HM, and it will count as a HM dungeon complete.

Okay, with time I found myself annoyed by my character blond hair. Ikr, it's sort of stupid but nontheless I found my self really wishing to change his hair.
So my question is : Is there a way to change my character appearence WITHOUT spending real money on a makeover pack. 9 euros seems a bit too much to spend just to change his hair.
So is the makeover tradeble? Or could I change it with another way?

No, there's no other way. Nothing you can buy in shop is tradable (for obvious reasons) nad the only way to change appearance is that pack, sorry.

Okay after hitting 30/50 HoM and finishing all of the story I decided to get all of the skills.
I am an Assassin and my question is.... : is it possible?
And I mean ALL skills. Mesmer, Warrior etc. If there is a skill I want it.

There's nothing that precludes you from learning all the skills, except for time and money. Each skill you learn that you didn't get from quests, will cost you (at this point) 1 skill point and 1 plat, or 1 hero skill point. The Wikia says you can earn around 250-260 skill points if you do all the missions. You get another 77 from hero skill points. So, you'd have to come up with the remaining 975'ish skill points via levels. Which Seems a lot, but levels can go quickly. I capped most of my elites during double elite XP, which means you earn 2/3 of a skill point every time you spend one.
It depends what your purpose on learning the skills is. If it's just to have them all on one char, it's easy, beyond being expensive and time consuming. If you're trying to unlock them for heroes, there's easier/cheaper ways to do it (the most obvious one being just buying the unlock packs. To prioritize them in order of most annoying to do by hand, I would go with Prophecies, Nightfall, then Factions)

As above, it's definitely possible. A couple of points though:
1 - An extremely large majority of the skills will never get any use. If you're happy to essentially throw out hundreds of platinum for no benefit whatsoever go ahead, but consider what else you could do with that time/money.
2a - With so many non-elites, you're much much better off using tomes. Buying them from the trader will cost 1k + a skill point. Tomes vary in price, but can be as low as ~200g each for assassin tomes. That'll be a lot of money in the long run
2b - The downside of using tomes however, is needing to have the skills unlocked beforehand. Buying the skill unlock pack would alleviate this issue, or you could use balthazar faction or get them on other characters. Anything other than the unlock pack (which costs real money*) will require a large investment of ingame resources anyway.
2c - This leads me to my final, and best piece of advice - buy the skill unlock pack and keep 20 or so tomes of each profession in storage. That way you can be sure to have easy access to whichever skills you want without having to buy them all.
*To nitpick/be ocd, 'real money' is an entirely redundant statement, but whatever. You get the point.

Thank you, I know it will be time/money consuming and I don't really care if I don't use them all....I just want them xD.

You're using the wrong wiki. New gwpvx is here: http://www.gwpvx.com/PvX_wiki
There are a few scythe builds there; one of which is pretty similar to the one you linked. For what it's worth, it's rated 'good' rather than 'great' and isn't listed as meta.

I am doing this thing by myself with heros and sometimes with one friend and his heros. Obviously, that is boring. I don't know how to meet people who know what they are doing without totally annoying them. I already have a guild that is useless since my family wanted one, but I want to participate. I think I have a few skills anyway.

Thx for the site. The builds there seem to work slightly better.
Anyways I've got a new question. While I was completing the cipher chain quest I saw a norn in asuran teritory that wanted to race with me. What was his name and where can I meet him again?
