Making $$ as a Ranger??

Ranger/Ne(but dont use Necro skills much or buy many).

Whats a good way to make money with what I've got? I use barrage as my elite skill along with using volley and spirit of favorable winds with it. already have many bows and best armour, along with inscriptions (16 marksmanship etc.)

Is theyre a build i can make with this to solo an area? currently, im going through the sunspear marches and collecting 7 unid golds to sell for 5k, i have 120k but most of thats from pets. I have all the versions except factions, and mostly have just played through nightfall campaign (about 14/20 missions complete) My guild mostly farms in factions but they help me with missions if doing more will help me make money..

I would wager that collecting unids and selling them for 7/5k is not very fast at getting a good amount of cash.

That being said you should make an effort to finish the nightfall campaign to unlock hard mode, then you can group with people doing the Zaishen quests that are in nightfall. The Zaishen coins are actually a very effective and quick way to gain money because each one can sell for up to 1.8k each (at the moment).

For solo farming you might want to consider running R/Rt and using a Signet of Spirits build to farm the underworld, once you get pretty adept at it you shouldn't die and just one ecto drop will net you more than money than 7 unids. Running R/Rt will be slower than just running a Ritualist primary, but it is still possible, although you will not be able to clear as much as a primary Ritualist because at one point in the run the enemies have Area of Effect damage and other skills that will tear through the relatively low level spirits for a R/Rt.

If you enjoy pvp there also is a large market for Zaishen Keys. Farming a random arena Zaishen combat quest for the 3000 faction reward will net you a pretty good rate of income because the keys can sell for 5.75k up if you post the sell order and refuse to compromise with people (after all you have time to sell).

I don't really recommend soloing an area in normal mode. The drop rate for golds will be less than it would be in hard mode and there are other methods of farming that will earn a lot more money in a much shorter time and be by far more fun.

I hope this helps. I personally do all of the above, depending upon my mood for the day and what I want to play during the day. I personally find farming unrewarding and fairly boring, but to me the PvP quests and Zaishen quests are the most fun to me because I can group with people to do some quest or dungeon that I would normally be doing alone with heroes.

A ranger can farm the first 2 waves of snowmen in the Secret Lair of the Snowmen (Umbral Grotto) in HM. I use this build:

The trick is to grab both groups and ball them up into a single point against the rocks and then kill them all with Whirling Defense. Once you get it down, it's really fast and you get lots of gold weapon drops. You also get a lot of monk tomes.

I havent been theyre before but besides the factions skills i can make a similar build, i shall try it out

ok so im going to first drop the nerco(still was better than the warrior secondary i didnt use) and go R/RT, then im going to finish the main quest (guild helps when i need it on missions) and then go hard mode with the guild, We're a farming/dungeon etc one so finding ppl to party up with wont be a problem, thanks for the info.

Rangers can do UWSC and Snowmen, they also can do all runs with some skills

Just curious, what build for UWSC?

I think its possible to farm celestial weapons and just outside a smaller Kurszick outpost to farm for echovalds. I'm sure the builds can be found of pvx wiki or on the farming part of the forum. You will need a large amount of luck with those items though :/

i use a variation that uses radiation field and deaths charge - ball them up and when tight i tend to dc then whirling and rad field.
Im shocked no1 has said got r/rt and spirit spam farm the sensali on jaya bluffs for feathers.

I see a ton of posts full of fail. He said he doesn't have factions yet you guys go on to post builds that require shadowform and signet of spirits to work at all... If you really want to farm you are going to need factions as has been posted the 2 major farming builds for ranger currently are SoS and SF whirling both builds I made.

Ranger can also go SoS in the Fissure of Woe sc's, so if you wanna try that I'd give it a shot. In my opinion, the main team makes the most money from shards that drop there, and Golds/gloom seeds that salvage into fibers. Plus, you get the end chest which has a chance at dropping expensive items. Hope I've helped!

mistrust is much better on mes here than it is on you
same with empathy
since you won't use these 2 spells power spike falls out of the build too
put distracting shot in build, good rupt for 3 energy
remove troll unguent and move points to expertise and beast mastery (it should look like 12 marksmanship+10 expertise+8 beast mastery)
pet is nice "tank" and deals some dmg too, especially when you pack 1-2 pet attacks into your build
then you can also take "never rampage alone" - sunspear skill for ranger

Ok somehow I missed the not having factions part. I would not know anything worth while without that campaign sorry.

In no particular order, here are some things you can try. I haven't tested all of these. I think I eliminated Factions dependencies, but I may have missed some. Note that R/A Shadow Form Whirling and R/Rt Signet of Spirits spirit spam and even Destructive was Glaive and/or Vengeful was Khanhei feather farms are usually more effective than many of these, especially the R/A. That R/A is terrific, because Shadow Form is still OP.

Replace Brambles with Winnowing. You might need to play tag with the Aatxe, but they'll be blind and crippled, so the next round of traps will kill them.

R/E using Storm Chaser, Stone Striker, Armor of Earth, Earthbound or Blessed insignia, a +10 Earth shield, and Area of Effect Earth Magic can farm stuff. Might be able to kill the snowmen with this.

R/P with Spear and Beast Mastery can solo, but it's single target and thus slow. OK'ish for Nick farms.

Run into Fronis dungeon hard mode and kill everything.

i tried it out, worked pretty well even in a harder area, also rebuilt heros for working on the questline and that worked out a lot better too, its not good for soloing but for getting through the main storyline it works pretty well
