Lucky/Unlucky Rank 2 = How many lockpicks?

I admit that i'm not the brightest, so can someone who isn't completely stupid tell me roughly how many lockpicks it would take to get rank 2 in unlucky/luck for my HOM? I checked the wiki and I couldn't find a estimate and don't really understand how it all works. Also what retention rate chests would be the best?
