Quick Mission Question: Elona Reach
Blackbirdx61
I've just started my Ascention Missions:
And it seems to me the Agg Rules have changed; My Fighters are Set to Guard, but are just Launching themselves at everyting they see. I've tested this a little planting a flag a good distance from a Worm, Well out of the Agg bubble but in sight and sure enough as soon as they saw it they were off.
Am I right about this, have other players observed serious a Boost in Agg Radius in these mission? It also seems to me the Mobs really chain on, I pulled Forgotten Healer clear across the bridge, like 3 Agg Radius Away?
Makes Managing Mobs hard when anything that can see a thing, that can see thing thats engaged jumps into the fray. (Not that they shouldn't always struck me as odd that they dont; but it does up the difficulty a good deal)

I just did this with my ranger and did not notice the increased agro bubble but I have seen groups wander about and then pull other groups with then when aggroed. Not sure if this is new or not...

You hit it on the head: it's the healer. A lot of times, healers from other mobs in HM will run a VERY long distance to try and heal another mob, then your heroes target that healer and pull the next mob in. I had this in WoC HM with the Am Fah, one time facing 5 mobs at once when they started very far apart(thankfully Am Fah are still bad :P). If you see this happening, your best bet is to pull back and either try and pull the mob with you or let aggro reset and pull them further away. It can be incredibly annoying to deal with.

Thanks to you Both for the Replies;
Will keep the Healer tip in mind; that makes sense, and now that you metion it I believe I have seen that Mechanic before. I have made a few more attempts and gotten the Agg Mangment better under control; but still have not quite beat the mission. I have found out you can snitch the Western Crystal and make off with it, and the the Boss will not follow prize forever; which may prove nice to know info in Future.

Later Edit: Not sure if this is linked, but
the Flagging issues Thread over in the technicians corner certainly echo'd my own observations this morning. BB.

I'm not exactly sure what it is you are saying; Are you talking about heroes aggroing at extreme distances, or that enemies are coming from large distances when you aggro?
If it's the latter, in Elona Reach many groups have rather large patrol routes anyway, so they could be just following that, but as it's in your direction it looks like they are aggroing from a large distance.
That being said, healer mobs (who will move to heal anyone from another mob who takes even the slightest bit of damage) and mobs with the ability to cast hexes (who will persistantly follow till they successfully cast thier hex on you) have been following for extended periods of time and distance ever since the massive A.I. update that was introduced around the same time as hard mode.

Did you manage with the mission? It seems we're never on at the same time, I would have helped you...
You are right about the healers, try to pull each group as if you get something like the group with the monk boss together with another group with healers it will be a pain. Also I find most groups are totally dodgeble (even if just leaving your minions behind with them) and counting how crowdy it becomes after each crystal, it saves you a lot of time and aggro problems. You might as well find a buff for running helpful.
I used to find that mission really really hard, but once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy.

Did you ever get mission & bonus? I did this last weekend with my ranger and heros and stomped thru it in 10 minutes, by killing each group that I came across.
I'll look for you when I'm on next and lend a hand if you still need this.

Took a Day off, things to do IRL; Try again in a day or so after work cycle. BB.
10 Minutes - Awwesomme. BB.
-------------------------------------------------
Beat the prime with 6 min to spare, As you know the trick was to hug the north wall; as always the path from point A to Point C never goes through point B. GWs Rule #1.

I might able to help it too =) depends on wut time u are one my time is europe zone GMT + 02:00. But not sure in whatt time during the day i am on , definitely not in evening time ( on on another game ) but might up. Mission i passed with flags almost on every pull of the groups i used to flag them on position and to tank or take agro. Few times my pp was gona die but i run and use to put flag somewhere far from battle during run ( with heroes are much easy i used only MOX other were hechmans ). Next missions arent easy ones too =) I can leave skype/msn contact but i prefer that to be on pm.

Thanks for the offers to help; I probably wont be on again before Thu night; on Watch IRL, I did peek at some Thirsty River Vids; looks intense. Thank god for U-Tube! I don't always use it, like to do my own recon first but sometimes those online briefings make a world difference.
I never PvP so I expect this PvP style Mission will be the most challenging to me; I could not help but notice 2 of the 3 video's featured Assassins running the mission! Which struck me a bit Ironic because of course they did not exist when the Mission was scripted; still I can see where shadow stepping would be very useful in this one; Slip in and spike the Priest; but as Im not a Sin, just have to find a way to NUKE them. : ) B
BTW - Just a stray thought, but if you hit a priest with an Interrupt at say 1:58 do the bad guys respawn, or can you interrupt the Mobs? (I'm sure to get a chance to play test that one, let ya know. )

Na Thirsty river is sure the easier one in the desert. Just kill the giants before so you get to max morale boost, than if you can simply try and kill the priests before so can't res the group (but take care not to get overwhelmed in doing this) and in the rooms where you have more than one group, if you're near the 2mins mark when you're going to a new one just wait for it so you have two full minutes to kill the group. Usually two mins is enough, if not don't worry as if they get ressed they have dp and you'll kill them much faster anyway.
For the bonus, take the warrior boss group first (the one to the right) as they're the only ones who will go and attack the ghost, after you dispatch that group he'll be safe (unless you take more than 10mins to clear that room but I've never heard of such occurrence).
You probably knew all this, especially since you watched videos, but any bit can help I hope :P
