Hello there everyone. I just recently started playing Guild Wars. I was told by a friend that Factions is the quickest campaign so that's what I started with. I'm trying to enjoy the game, except for one glaring problem.
I have the survivability of a sheet of paper.
I'm an Elementalist/Ranger, and being two shotted is not uncommon for me. Right now, I'm level 11 and I'm currently on the primary quest called A Master's Burden. Here's the thing though, the enemies in the are are level 20. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong... I'm at the place where the game says I should be. I honestly don't know what's wrong. Is my class unviable?
Can someone please help, because I'm dying like every other pull.
Thanks!
Please... Help a noob out.

Seems like you have really speeded the starting area. Often players are lvl 17-18 at that point. Go back to the island you started on and do more quests. The foes there are more suited for you.
What's your armor? The first thing one should do at arrival in Kaineng Center is to upgrade the armor to max armor level. Kaineng Center is reached by going north from where you arrived on the big mainland. Pick up armor at lvl60, go back to island and level up.

thats the biggest issue..level 11 on mainland o.o umm you shouldnt be on mainland until least lvl 17.which isnt hard to get on noobie island is you do all the quest main and side ones.which also helps give you money you will need later on and chits to use for items

My Lv 16 Prophecies Toons got stomped first few times outside the outpost In Factions; the Pace of the Expansion and Ferocity of the Bad Guys is the Steepest; but it is cool once you get into the rythem;
It's not you or your class; Its just the deeeep end of the Pool BB.

as maya said - go back to kaining centre and upgrade your armour + buy runes to add to the armor as well

You are a bit low level for that area. At this point I see only 3 options:
1) you go back on the island and level up a bit more
2) leave an IGN (in game name) on forum and maybe someone (I can try to help u but I live in europe so there might be some time issues 4:38 am here when i write this message) will give you a hand until u get to level 20
3) you get a run to Kaineng city and move to eye of the north (your attribute and hp will be changed to the ones of a level 20 in Eye of the North, usually the attribute points change is not that usefull but still it's probably better then the one u can have at lvl 11); try to get max armour from Kaineng or Eye of the north (i think the one from the first eye of the north town is a bit cheaper but not 100% sure), get the first 3-4 heroes from eye of the north (gwen is easy to get so make it 4), (i don't remember if moving to nightfall will gave some heroes fast or not so if someone knows confirm this)
Regarding your friend suggestion. If you ask me he is only partialy right, Factions is the fastest as long as you know how to do it fast (without heroes I'm not so sure how fast it is). If you ask me for a new player Vizunah Square quest can be a nightmare (if u don't get an human ally from the other side then...).
I prefer to start all my chars in Nightfall, the reason is cause i get some heroes from the start, then at lvl 10 I move to Eye of the North basicaly to get the 3 or 4 heroes from here (basicaly I stay here 10-15 minutes), then I go back to Nightfall.
I prefer the heroes cause I can use the builds I want on them. Regarding builds for you and for your heroes you can find some builds here: http://www.gwpvx.com/PvX_wiki

Thanks for all the responses everyone, they were very helpful.
One more question, regarding heroes though. I was supposed to get something called Mox, because I bought the trilogy, along with my Fire Imp.
I got the Fire Imp when I typed /bonus, but I didn't get Mox. What code do you have to use to get him? I feel like he would help.

You find MOX outside Kaineng Center if you own all campaigns, just talk to him and he joins you.

M.O.X is waiting you outside of Kaineng (also outside Kamadan in Nightfall, Lion's Arch in prophecies). You get him by talking with him.
If you don't have Eye of the North please ignore everything I said about eye in my previsous post.

1. Return to SHing Jae Island and do some side quests there to level up and also gain more familiarity with the game play in a more forgiving environment. Return to the mainland ~lvl 18.
2. When you return to the mainland, self-run (or ask someone to take you) to Kaineng Center, where you can buy max armor. (You can self-run to KC because there's a straight-ish path with zero enemies.)
3. Ignore everyone talking about MOX. Heroes are worthless to you right now because you don't have the faintest clue how to give them a good build, and don't have the skills unlocked to do it even if you knew how. (Actually, they are worse than worthless, since most inexperienced players manage to make hero builds that are actually worse than the hench builds.) For right now, use henchmen and focus on learning how to play/build an elementalist. Heroes come later.

...Getting to the mainland of Cantha around level 11 or 12 is actually very common. I've never been more than level 13 when doing A Master's Burden. Just take the level 20 henchmen with you and you'll be fine so long as you stay towards the back.
Another problem is that you most likely do not have max armor. Run over the Kaineng Center (a 1 minute walk north of The Marketplace, no fighting involved) and buy max armor.
