Only want 6/50... advice?
z310
Hi Guys,
New to Guild Wars 1. I had bought the trilogy of the first 3 games on steam some many months ago.
Been following GW2 for a long time, and with it getting closer and closer, I decided to try and get some Hall of Monuments bonuses, and bought EoTN and started my first guild wars 2 character.
I heard Factions was fastest to level 20, so I started there. I'm an E/Mo at level 16 or 17, just finished the mission Vizunah Square.
My goal for the HoM is really quite modest: I really only want 6/50 for the armor set and traveler title.
What's the easiest way for me to progress to just get 6 points off the bat?
I'll likely still play after getting 6/50, but it will be more of just doing what is fun rather than going for achievements.

You get 3 points for just having your account linked towards HoM...
then you can add in 4 minis(common, uncommon, rare, uniqe) the cheapest set i guess you can get under 100k.
The easiest way IMO would be to finish factions with all bonuses done for all missions, and when doing that, level up a pet to lvl 20.
Account linked=3
Canthan protector=2
Pet=1.
???

Okay sounds good.
What is meant by doing all bonuses done for all missions? I don't think I've had a bonus yet, or have I? If I miss one can I go back and re-do it?

Don't even need the mini(s), or even the bonuses for Factions. Just finishing the campaign will give you Hero of Cantha. And with the trilogy, MOX can be put straight into the HoM. That's an automatic 6 points.
You can tell if you've done the bonus by looking at your world [M]ap. In Factions, attaining Master Level completion (what you need to be considered to have attained the bonus) looks like 3 weapons crossed over the mission's shield icon (see the link I posted). Most of the Factions mission bonuses are achieved by completing them under a certain amount of time. Your quest log will often show the bonus objectives, or you can look the mission up on the wiki.
And yes, you can re-do any missions in order to get the bonus.

Sounds good about hero of cantha and MOX.
I'll have to play through the EoTN campaign too right? to unlock the tapestries for the Hall of Monuments?

Yeah, you need to play truh eotn to get the tapestries(or buy them)
I do suggest playing proph and NF also later.. seems like money thrown away otherwise...

and yeah, i plan on playing the game pretty much until gw2 is released! just once I have my lil 6/50 dealio I'll be wandering to whatever seems fun... kinda want to do nightfall I want to get more heroes than just mox.
cosyfiep
you can get an easy pet by creating a pvp character ranger (with charm pet on your bar)...go to the Zaishen Menagerie. you will have a level 20 wolf as your pet..show it to the tamer...
create a pve character either r/ or /r (easiest to do this with a nightfall character). go to the menagerie..charm wolf...go to HoM...add pet to display.

For your 6 points, all you'd pretty much have to do is go to the Eye. Honor (which would hold Hero of Cantha) doesn't need a tapestry, and Gwen hands you one (which you would use on Fellowship for MOX) pretty much upon your arrival.
But as Olle says, for the rest you'll have to either play through or buy them.

Prophecies is VERY LONG, but IMO, has one of the best storylines of any RPG I've ever played.
I beat the main campaign a couple years ago and it was amazing. I think it holds up very well, even today.
I just started playing through EotN and it's very good also so far. The gameplay is so addictive. I was only aiming for 8/50 myself, but now I'm thinking about going for at least 22/50.
As for your 6/50, the best thing I would suggest is to clear the Primary Missions for the campaigns - you'll get the tapestries to unlock the HoM sections and along the way you'll find other stuff that will likely count toward other unlocks, like finding Heros and other stuff (Like just exploring the areas of the map you haven't uncovered yet).

You can get a quick 50 platinim by just registering your name at tolkano! (you get 50 tournament points which you can exchange for zaishen keys which you can sell to players for 5 k each)
z310
interesting, that sounds cool. once I beat factions I'll have to find that tolkano guy and do that. Is there an accepted "trading zone" where people go to trade? i was thinking of trying to sell this gold vampiric bow I got too

That's kamadan, jewel of Istan all right. Gtob for zkeys and some other places for other stuff, all can be sold in kamadan though.
Weapon aren't really worth anything unless they are either: unidentified gold weapons (sell for ~700g ea because of the wisdom title), or have a thought after appearance (skin), or have one or more max good modifier. I'd suggest you either use it yourself or on a hero, or just sell it to a merchant because most of the time it's not worth the time waiting.

You start with 3/8. You then don't even need Canthan Protector, simply finishing the last mission will yield Eternal Hero of Cantha, which is 2 points (5/8). Any Mini pet or level 20 pet for the last point.

If you do decide on a few more points adding animal companions gets a couple of points.
Then check your maps to see how many missions you need to do to finish each campaign.
With a lvl 20 character and heroes many of these missions are easier than they were first time around.
Money gets you most things so you can buy some elite armours there are some in prophesies that don't break the bank.
Doesn't matter what they look like as you just after points here and you don't even have to craft the headpieces.
Upgrading hero armour is next, do the missions for the chance of them dropping or buy from players.
you can hit 10 pts without breaking a sweat and 16 isnt hard.

Yep just finish Cantha either level a pet up, or make a pvp toon that's a ranger and dedicate the free pet they get.

And how exactly would you dedicate a pvp pet from a pvp character to a hom that is only accessible in a pve outpost?

take your pvp r/ or /r with pet on board character TO the menagerie....show the pet to the tamer. Now take your pve character with r/ or /r to the menagerie...the (pvp) wolf level 20 is now available for your pve character to tame...
Zoat
I created a PVP Ranger but don't have a wolf. I've run around the training ground and the Temple plus been to the menagerie and spoken to the trainer but still no Wolf.
I'm doing something stupid, but what?

Star_Jewel
You have to have Charm Animal, Comfort Animal, or Heal as One on your bar for your pet to join your party. Do that and go out to an explorable (or the menagerie) and the wolf should be there.
Zoat
Ah, I thought that a PVP ranger got those skills as part of their starting package but this does not seem to be the case.
I'll add ranger to my main toon and have a bit of fun finding pets, then. :0)
Thank you.

It's been a while since I started fresh and saw which skills they give a new PvP ranger. But it should be pretty easy to unlock Charm Animal with any PvE character -- even a throwaway one -- since it's one of the starter skills in PvE. Once it's unlocked, you can toss it on your PvP toon to get the wolf.
cosyfiep
yeah, guess I started a regular pve ranger first --which does unlock the charm and comfort animal...(not prophecies though)...then just change over to the pvp-- did this for my 2nd account and it worked out well (still have a nice level 20 wolf pet on one of my heroes too).
z310
okay so I'm 8/50 now!
I've got:
Hero of Cantha
Companion Pet
M.O.X.
Black Moa
Pretty soon I'll have the Imperial Pheonix (He's level 18 now)
And when I beat the next mission and get to the central transfer chamber I will be able to use the 2 cloths of brotherhood i bought to get 2 more heroes upgraded.
But geez - the game is a lot harder than I thought to solo! Had to get help for a few of the harder missions in Cantha and for the last mission with the cyndyr wurm boss at the end.
I need to start upgrading my heroes skills or optimizing them in some way. At least the destroyers are a bit easier since I realized I shouldn't be using fire skills against them and switched to the water element.
Anyways, my new goal is 15/50 for the Black Moa ranger pet in GW2. My next plans are:
- Try to do WiK to get an epic weapon for 2 points. (I heard it's hard )
- Try to save up for prestige armor (need like 60 plat ugh)
- Beat the other campaigns and then figure out a couple more titles after that.
- Get the Black Moa Chick
Does anyone know how long it takes getting norn rep before you're able to post a trophy for it? I'm at like 6,500 rep but still don't have a title I can post to the HoM.

You need to max the norn title to post it in the HoM. Same with all the EoTN allegiance titles. That's 160 000 points.

Max rank is required for lots of titles, but there are some exceptions (which you can find here : http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/%22Honor%22 )
Upgrading your heroes is really important, their default skills are usually quite bad. You will find everything easier with decent heroes

dear lord 160,000 i think I'll go for something else!
I was looking to use a guide to customize my heroes and was refferred to this:

However he says: "This guide assumes you have access to every skill in the game. If that is not the case for you ... I’m afraid I cannot help."
Now I gotta figure out the fastest way to unlock hero skills. They all have default skills and its bleh

I found a good way to get some skills is to do the skill quests in prophecies (even non prophecies characters can get a few --from lions arch thru the jungle there are a bunch). another way, I just create a new character (say dervish) and play him til he gets to kamadan (or a bit farther)...unlocks some basic dervish skills. (did this with a new account--had no melee skills so I created a warrior in nightfall, played a bit, deleted, created in factions--played a bit, deleted etc--but I do play quite a lot as well ---).
It only gets basic skills, but since I had none unlocked at all--it was better than nothing.
