I was doing an FoW run last night with heroes and about half way in I noticed that my heroes would never attack or cast unless a mob was well inside of their aggro range. This might not seem like much, but casting a spell from max range will not have them in your aggro bubble. And if you're trading spells with a caster they will never come close enough. Now keep in mind i don't mean I have to have ONE of the enemy mobs in aggro range for them to start attacking the group. I mean that every last enemy has to be in aggro range or nothing i going to happen.
Afterwards I started doing a few more random places in HM and noticed this was happening 100% of the time. My heroes would sit around doing nothing but heal while 4 enemy casters were dropping aoe on us. They wouldn't try to run out. They wouldn't cast defensive spirits. They wouldn't cast defensive enchantment. Absolutely nothing but sit there and heal while I was busy casting my spells at the mobs.
I clicked on their spells to force cast them, but I had to do that for every one of them, they still wouldn't act like they were a day ago. No matter what my heroes will do nothing but sit and heal until something is in their aggro range and, as a squishy caster, this is a HUGE problem for me. I have to pull the entire group into my aggro range while my team does almost nothing at all.
Simply put, unless a mob is in their aggro bubble, heroes will never do anything but cast heals, EVER. Has anybody else noticed this before or have any suggestions? I would just flag the heroes ahead, but that means the entire enemy mob will be blowing us up while my heroes walk over and do nothing until they get to the flag.
Help! my heroes aren't casting

This behavior is related to the game update last thursday. Heroes worked fine before the melee AI update, after that they started to be a bit more aggressive. The recent patch changed it to what it is now. It's quite annoying but there's not much you can do about it except flag your heroes a bit closer than you used to. I hope they revert this behavior to what it was before the last two hero AI changes, as it's quite annoying for me because I always have my heroes stay back, and now, most of the time they won't budge unless I flag them closer than I used to.

Reverted the recent adjustment to the aggro range of heroes and henchmen. I thank ArenaNet for understanding how this change wasn't exactly fun for people who play with heroes.
