Best Heroe Builds/Setup for questing?

I just started up Guild Wars again after a year or so off and started to work on my HoM. Currently I'm doing The War in Kryta quest line and am finding it very difficult with stock Heroes. I only own Prophecies and GWEN and have all the Heroes from them with their default skills.

What heroes should I set up with what skills, equips, etc that will help me quest (obviously different builds are better for different things, but I just would like the best overall while questing, especially this quest line). I have finished the storyline on both the campaigns so I have access to most of the skills, etc. Thanks!

HYAHHHHH!

Heroes and their elite skill:
Necromancer - Aura of the Lich. Minion master with skills like Death Nova, Putrid Bile and Animate bone minions.
Elementalist - Ether Renewal. E/Mo with that elite skill and monk protection skills. Ele can also be some fire kind of nuker with Savannah Heat/Searing Flames (both skills are non-prophecies but can be capped in Eotn).
Monk - Unyielding Aura/Word of Healing. Basic healer.
Mesmer - Here you actually have lots of great options. Energy Surge, Panic and Ineptitude are all available for capping in prophecies. Grab one and look up respective bar on http://www.gwpvx.com/PvX_wiki
Ranger/Warrior - no idea what to do with this spot, I would probably use Pyre over Koss since Pyre is way cooler. Barrage as elite skill though heroes aren't using it as good as a human.

If you only have limited access to heroes, I would say that the core of your team will be Gwen, Livia and Ogden. The poster above is quite right that a panic Mesmer and Aura of the Lich Necro will make life a lot easier, and I would suggest using Ogden with a Word of Healing build, as that maximises the healing you have available with limited skills.
After those three, using Vekk to provide some firepower (literally) is probably a good idea - searing flames would be a great choice of elite for him. Unless destroyers are involved in the quest (immune to burning).
Lacking a second mesmer hero I would go for some sort of ranger-based interrupt build in the next slot, possibly with Barrage though prepared shot is a good choice if you're using preparations as it is easily capped from just outside the Eye of the North.
From there, possibly henchmen should fill out the rest of the spaces (and I never thought I'd say that again) dependent on what kind of character you're playing and what sort of play style you prefer. I personally would use Lina (protection monk) and Lo Sha (Illusion Mesmer) to fill out the roster.

Give it a go, and post with how you get on. Finally, if you get stuck with anything in particular my IGN is Ynesse Shen Cloud and I'm happy to help

Like the health vs armor debate, there is no pat answer to this question. Many people will suggest all sorts of various builds, but it really comes down to a few overall 'types' of heroes, more so than specific builds.

So, with that in mind:

- make sure to properly set up your Heroes with max Runes, Inscriptions, and proper weapons. You can get all technical about the set up, but generally speaking, use only one Major attribute rune and a Major Vigor - the rest is whatever seems reasonable.

- a simple team build would include an MM necro, SoS Rit, 2 healers, and whatever else floats yer boat and/or suits your playstyle. As far as builds are concerned - if you can't come up with your own, try getting some from PvX and modifying them to suit your taste, playstyle, and/or available skills. Think of the PvX builds as "suggestions" or "starting points" rather than slavishly following every last detail. It's more important to understand how a build works, so you can adapt it to your own use.

In my case, my last 7-hero team consisted entirely of Mercs based upon my regular characters. Almost all of them had - a Survivor + Major attribute on the head, Radiant + minor attribute on chest, Survivor + minor/vitae/attune on hands, Radiant + vitae/attune on legs, and Survivor + Major Vigor on feet (the MM used a Bloodstained in place of one of the Radiants).
The basic team build was Me (as whatever), an MM, an SoS Rit, an HB Monk, a prot Mo/Rit, an Ele (air), a Mesmer (panic), and an interrupt (BHA) Ranger.
This set up worked just fine for everything but some end-game hard mode stuff. I'm simply pointing this out to show how "un-special" the whole set up can be and still work.

No, you cannot capture a regular skill nor an elite skill from a campaign you do not own, even if they're available in EOTN. It will be greyed out when you use a signet of capture and not able to be learned by you.

SuperKevin, please see the Heroes & AI forum on this website and read the sticky posts at the top of it. There are some very good discussions there on what the best skills for heroes are.

Yep. Q+A really isn't the place.
