Factions and completing enough for HoM credit

So, I tried a search, but it's tricky, since I'm asking about factions within the Factions campaign, so bear with me here.

I'd like to "complete a campaign" for HoM credit, and the Factions mission wiki tells me to max out (well, to 10k) both factions (Kurzick and Luxom) to get "protector of Cantha". Is this "protector of Cantha" the same thing I need to get the statue in HoM for completing the Factions campaign, or can I just lean on one side to complete the campaign and get credit in HoM?

Thanks in advance for all constructive replies.

Since "Protector" is actually a title for completing all the missions in a campaign *with* bonus objectives, the wiki article you read might be referring to completing Faction-specific missions such as The Eternal Grove and Gyala Hatchery. These missions represent a (temporary) split in the storyline wherein you have to choose whether you wish to side with the Kurzicks or the Luxons before continuing on. You can go back and finish the missions on the other side later, but it's best to play through to the end of the campaign on one or the other first.

The problem with the split is that you can accumulate faction from both the Kurzicks and Luxons at the same time (press "H" to view how much you have)...but when you go to spend it, you loose an equal amount from the other faction. Most ppl run one side and then switch to the other later to avoid too much faction loss.

Apologies for the sloppy linkage to wiki pages...heading out to run errands in a min >.<

Whoa whoa whoa, back up...

Simply "seeing the story" from a-z isn't worth anything in HoM?

Ok, it appears the "eternal hero" statue is the one I'm after... does *THAT ONE* require I suck up to both factions?

Sorry, that should have been my question from the get go

So for that statue, I just play as normal, pick *A* side, and go on from there when the plot re-joins?

iirc to get the "eternal hero of x" statue you just have to finish the last mission of the campaign i.e hells precipice for tyria, imperial sanctum for cantha and abaddons gate for elona

Whups, heh. Since you're talking about just the title for finishing the campaign, then yes. Pick one side and just keep going until you finish the Imperial Sanctum mission. That will get you the "Eternal Hero of Cantha" title.

You won't need to go back and finish the other side unless you are planning to go for the Protector title.

Ya sorry, I was confused, "guardian" and "protector" got crossed in my memory (go figure) and I panicked for a moment there hehe.

Guardian and Protector are the same things essentially. They both count for Legendary Guardian and are just completing the missions in hm (Guardian) or nm (Protector) with all the bonus bits completed.

I think you were also referring to the Luxon and Kurzick faction titles, which are altogether different to Eternal Hero of Cantha. For hero, you just need to complete the campaign. For the Lux/Kurz titles, you need to spend faction.

But definitely stick with one side first, then go to the other once you've reached at least r4 (which is displayable in the HoM).

If you want to grab the black moa for your Hom you might want to go Kurzic since its in their territory.

Not essential if you prefer to go Luxon as you can always pick up some other companion such as the Spider from the underworld.

Or you can go Luxon for however long you want, dump your faction on Jadeite and skills and alliance faction (if you have a guild, natch), then go Kurzick for however long it takes to get the Moa, dump THAT faction, then switch back to Luxon.
