Well in the latest GW2 blog, "Building Community," Martin officially announced that there will be official forums for both GW and GW2 and that they will be trending away from the "traditional fansite program." So can only guess that official forums will be the biggest change to the website.

Who knows what they 'expect' but a brand new forum for a brand new game is not that strange. Maybe they believe it will be easier to find for new / casual players, it might even be reachable from within the game, like the wiki.
Don't worry, they'll likely be better at managing / moderating it then Bioware was with their ToR forum; it's just not possible to do it any worse.

So...they expect the community to move from fansite forums to the official ones after 7 years?? I mean, those forums already have all the guides, a sort of community, all that's been built slowly through the years...how could a brand new forum be considered at this point?

Most people aren't the people that come to fan sites like this. Most people will end up at the official forums for GW2 if they visit a forum at all for things other than update notes etc. Heck, most people just ask in game, "Hey, what changed with the update?" Most people in MMO's can't even be bothered to read the patch notes that are attached to a game's launcher for crying out loud.
