We have 'Stupidest' how about tho's wrong person PM's that I'm sure we've all had, whats the funniest out of the blue one you've had?
|

I got a PM from someone once that just said "yo". Didn't know who they were, they weren't in the same district as me, so I just ignored it.
A few moments later they bitch me out for not answering. "You could have at least said hello. I was in your guild once. I know who you are, you live in New York" (I live in England, not New York, never been there). Again, I just ignore 'em and go about my business.
A few days later, they PM me again "Hi. Are you going to talk to me today?" that sort of thing. So I bite the bullet and message back, telling this person I have no idea who they are. I ask if he has me confused with someone else, he says "possible, but no, I don't think so". Continues telling me things about my life and the guild we were in together, none of which were correct. He eventually gets the point that we have never ever met, and if we did it was a 30 second ships-pass-in-the-night sort of thing. He apologises for ranting at me, and then he goes.
One year and three months later, he returns "Hi, you're on my friends list, and I don't remember who you are".
...... *Facepalm*
So I tell him about how he messaged me 15 months ago, thinking I was someone else, and proceeded to cuss me out for ignoring him. Poor guy was all "Oops. I'm sorry D: I'll take you off my list now as it sounds like mistaken identity and you probably think I'm crazy. I'm sorry, have a good day!"
---
The PM itself wasn't the funniest thing, the fact that it took over 15 months to play out is what was making me go LOLWHUT.

the funniest thing I had was when I was afk in gtob on my mesmer....I was away for a bit (doing housework or some such thing), I get back and notice there was a whisper from someone saying just how ugly my mesmer's face is....very strange, in the funny sort of way since I was never really happy with the mesmer face choices from any of the chapters....so I was like 'yeah, they are ALL pretty dang ugly'...lol

Its hard to think what ive had - pm before from someone who obviously chose players at random - i was level 3 out of pre and they pm me asking me to run to droks and to nightfall. Then being called a noob for having a chr who wasnt able to run anywhere -
surprisingly i never answered.
Most of mine are mainly idiots who dont lvl check players - level 11 sin outside snowmen dungeon and i get players pming me to join slavers team - lol.
Few players who pm because they see me in outpost but not on their friends list - damn i get boring pm`s lol

I should have taken screenshots but didn't think about it until it was too late.
A few months ago some kid pm'd me outta the blue just to beg for money. He said I was on his friends list and he remembered me being a helpful person. (That's possible. I sell a lot of stuff on gwauctions.org and I think he may have been one of my buyers.)
I told him I didn't remember him but that maybe he just bought weapon or 2 from me a few years ago and perhaps that's where he knew me from. He got really upset that I didn't remember him because he needed some gold for his Hall of Monuments.
He looked me up on the monument calculator and saw that I was 50/50 so by his logic I already had everything I needed so I didn't need any ingame gold anymore and I should just give it all to him. I tried to be polite to the kid and told him he needed to just earn it himself but he wouldn't stop whining for the gold telling me I was being incredibly selfish by not giving everything in my storage to those less fortunate who couldn't play the game as well.
Sigh, kids these days. They don't want to work for anything. Someone has to hand it all to them.

It's hard to stay polite with those sorts of people. :O
I had a random person send me a message asking when I was going to help him with his speedbooking. He refused to believe that we'd never met, as I am certain we never had. We ended up going back and forth for almost 30 minutes. He eventually told me his life story and how his dad was sick, and how he didn't have time to play, so his guild got him 47/50 HOM... all sorts of stuff.

I dunno if I'd call it funny...weird/creepy maybe. When I was brand new to the game, I had just made my account and was standing in GToB while I watched TV. I was brand new to the game back then, and didn't know ANYBODY. There was some classy-looking mesmer standing there. Out of the blue she PM'd me...obviously thinking I was someone else.
her: i know u
me: i'm new here, just joined...i dont know anybody yet
her: your name's (-name she used-), right?
me: erm...nope. not even close o_O
her: are u sure?
me: pretty sure i know my own name xD
her: if u say so...
Didn't get anything else from her after that. Very creepy first PM's to get, lol.

when i first got out of pre (took some time
) i was in post fighting new enemies, stronger than in pre, so i had to watch out (GW was also my first MMO, so had no idea how it worked)
fighting in post ascalon, i did well, but watched my own health, and then *ping* some guy who only saw me in ascalon city (i didnt even talk there yet) whispered me:
"hey, you look good"
i was like: i wont talk yet, my health is getting lower
"give me your msn" (msn dirty talks were in back then.... somehow)
i didnt reply and tried to concentrate on the fights
"you know you want to" (i hope i dont need to explain this...)
so i said: i'm fighting, i cant talk
and never heard of him again, lol
my first MMO, my first real battles in an MMO, and my luck for getting this junk.....

my fave was from a monk i was on an RA team with and he called me a nub for no reason. we won and the monk left. we got another monk the very next match. the monk who called me a nub kept ranting at me for 5 minutes in caps about how terrible i was. we kept winning with our new monk and ended up fighting the name calling, capslock monk. we rolled his team. the pm's stopped.
about 10 minutes after that i ended up going on a 15 win streak with the name calling monk as my team mate. he wouldn't say it in team chat, but PM'ed me that i was good. i lol'ed.
