So I've just come back from a huge hiatus from the game and I've been running through the new Guild Ways Beyond content, but then I got to 'Rise' from the 'Hearts of the North' questline. It's the quest that has you playing Thackary and defending Bettlun against the White Mantle. For the life of me, though, I cannot beat this quest. I keep getting overrun, and I can't figure out what else to do differently. I've been trying to make sure all my shouts are up as often as possible and splitting my attention between the two entrances, but still get overrun. Can anyone please give me some tips? This is driving me nuts!

This is quite surprising, because Rise is the easiest of all 4 HotN missions. There's not much to advise, just what wiki saysMiku calls out Promise of Death on her target, making it easy to combo with Keiran's Sniper Shot Keep using Nature's Blessing to heal the villagers Use "There's Nothing to Fear!" often on both sides of the village to increase the durability of your allies
  • Avoid the front lines, so that you can cover as many villagers as possible with Keiran's shout and stance Use interrupts frequently

First- don't bother trying to cover every side as long as there are visible troops coming from the direction you're working on. The village won't be overran- if it does, you can fall back- but that's only if the soldiers are attacking the village proper.

Second- combo with Miku's Promise of Death. Don't EVER waste your Sniper Shot on a non-marked target. 1 or 2 slip-ups are fine... but anything else is a waste. Kill speed is a big factor in winning this mission.

Third- the White Mantle who summon spirits are by far the most pretentious and annoying. Should encounter 1, let alone 2 or 3, try to get out of range/behind a wall away from the spirits.

Fourth- Spread your Deep Wound. You have 2 sources of it- don't use it all on the same target. Your Tab button is itching to be pressed.
