Hello,
I've been a long time lurker of GWG, and have recently come back to the game to complete my HoM and was overwhelmed by some of the changes like Meta Teams.
I tried doing some research, but maybe I did word the search property to warrant the results I was looking for. Basically, I need to know which Heroes I should collect first to build up a basic 7H team while I get back on my feet and remember my class.
I am a Rt who just completed the Factions campaign yesterday, and ventured into EoTN, so I have the first 4 (Vekk, Ogden, Gwen, MOX) heroes, plus Xandra from the Arena quest.
So, who are the first companions I need to collect?
Thanks for your time.
Collecting Heroes for 7H Team, who first?
Difinitus
Calista Blackblood
Start with a team build and work from that.
Difinitus
Do you mean from PvX?
Would some be easier to acquire than the others?

Create your own teambuild, it's way more fun. Utilize the wiki for a good overview of skills.
Here you can see where you can aquire each hero: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hero
Necros, mesmers and ritualists are vey popular therse days, so I'd suggest you pick up Olias asap and then go for Livia. After that start to delv after nightfall heroes, namely master of whispers, norgu and razah.

Heros you want include Necros, Rits, Mesmers, Monks, and Elems. Physicals are not up to snuff for the most part.
Necs for mm's, 3 hero sabs(mostly the healer), discord, etc. Rits mostly for ST shelter hero and SOS depending on what you are running. Monks for healing, prots, and maybe smites. Check for builds that may interest you. There are youtube vids of some team builds in action.

Usually in most recent meta 7h builds you have 2 mesmers 2 rits and 1 or 2 necro's with w/e else. This is without mercenary heroes of course.

the "meta" build is usually tweaked to suit each individual's tastes. For example, I only run 1 mes and use a smiter in place of the other. Ultimately, you want to experiment for yourself and determine which combination of heroes works best for you.

Olias, Gwen, Xandra, Livia. ~1h work after you go EOTN. Nothing wrong with using Ogden if youre melee or vekk either

I am running a variation of the 7 Hero Physway, Since I am melee I dropped one of the sins for myself and changed the other sin into a VoS derv. This seems to be working out nicely the hero's and builds you will need are in the link.

Go to EotN first, get Gwen, Ogden and Vekk. From there I worked on you want Xandra, and Livia (although I no longer use necros).
Then hit NF and grab Norgu and Razah. You ought to be able to make a decent build from them guys.
I run 3Me, 2Rt, 1Mo, 1Ele. But the Ele is just there for extra dmg.

I find myself going back to using the 3 necros especially on my rit.
Here is my rit setup now:
My rit with SoS, painful bond, vampirism, summon spirits, res, etc.
N/Rt Wanderlust+Earthbind restore with SoLS and some soul reaping for energy management with Res
N/Mo Minion Bomber with Protective Spirit OR a Rt/P ST Defensive with Shelter
Rt/P SoGM Communing Rit with Fallback! (you can also slot a res here if you want to)
===> Stop here for 4-man areas
N/Rt BiPer restore with SoLS and some soul reaping for energy management
Me/P Panic dom mesmer with Fallback! and SYG!
===> Stop here for 6-man areas
Me/Rt Energy Surge dom mesmer with Res
Me/P Energy Surge dom mesmer with SYG!
Using a MM is more effective in 4 or 6-man areas in general. For 8-man areas, it depends. The MM tends to lag behind but it seems be safer in general especially in 4-man team, even though it is more painful to micro PS on individual targets.
You can replace the N/Rt Wanderlust/Restore with a UA-healer, however the UA-healer would not have the utility or damage contribution. At least Wanderlust synergizes somewhat with painful bond. Alternatively, you can also make the N/Rt a curse/restore or Icy Veins/restore, see http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:N/Rt_SoLS_Healer for ideas. The N/Rt seems to me to be the more flexible choice.
