I have a dilemma...Salvage or not to salvage, that is the question.

Hi,

Over the weekend I got 2-gold drops. The first was a nice max dmg. 15 > 50 Chaos Axe while in FoW. The MOD on the axe is a bit crappy though vamp. haft 2/1.

The second drop was a gold Hand Axe. However, the dmg. is only 6-21 with +14% while enchanted. The mod is very nice though +5 armor. I know gold hand axes are rare but the low basic damage is probably not very attractive to ppl.

Question is, do I salvage the Hand Axe for the +5 armor pommel and then upgrade my Chaos Axe or do I just try to sell both as are?

This is really bothering me because I don't have luck with the expert salavge kit...I usually get the wrong mod or just salvage materials.

The +5 armor - which I prefer to +30 health - sells for around 5k. So it's not a pricey upgrade. (I'm sure you know the +5 armor mod will not replace the 2:1 vampiric ... but since someone new reading your note could draw that conclusion, just noting it).

Anyway - I'd salvage for the +5 armor. If you don't get it there's no real tragedy since you can buy the same mod for not much gold.

Thanks for the advice.

No I understand the Vamp. Haft stays but I would also have the +5 armor mod making the following Chaos axe:

6-28dmg
15>50
2/1 lifesteal
+5 armor.

The question is that how much more is this worth than trying to sell the gold hand axe seperately???

hand axes aren't rare. white scythes are.

hence, the non max hand axe isn't worth much.

If you're looking to sell, then salvage the Armor Grip and sell it SEPARATELY from the Chaos Axe. Sell the Chaos Axe as is - the upgrades never increase the value of the underlying axe more than the base value of the axe itself.

Boy, you're right. I can remember, at various times, buying axes with a +30 hp mod and thinking of how expensive that mod was for the seller ... thinking that as I replaced it with a +5 armor mod. Most people who know what they're doing are looking at the inherent specs of the weapon (req. level, 15^50 or 50 enchanted, etc), not the mods. Some sellers seem to feel that it's smart to mod a weapon with fortitude and sundering ... and I'll admit that there are buyers who are naive enough to want them. (Well, you could make an argument for the health mod ... even though I don't ... but sundering?)
