Double Superiors

This is one of the established traditions I'm thinking about. It arose because of Icy Veins and the rest of the Necro direct damage spells being in different lines. I wound up using two Superiors to get both attributes to high levels and still be able to spec "Fall Back!". To counter the health loss the hero had Survivor insignia (which however is more of me not having changed it than an intentional choice) as well as a +60 health weaponset with shield. He tops out at around 500, which is curiously more than some of my other heroes. The downside of course he can't use offensive weaponsets. From limited experience so far it's been OK.

The only other hero I've ever used with double Superiors is ED Ranger, which has been perfectly fine, but the hero does have more AL. The only other build I've seen with double Superiors is Aria Frost's E/Me Mimicry Ele, using Vital Weapon to counter the health loss, but I've not tried it.

Has anyone used double Superiors more extensively and has experience to share?

Not double sup but I've used sup + major quite a bit on heroes such as SoGM (for easy swap to ST) Me/Rt healers and N/Rt healers. In my experience there the most important factor for me is to have equal HP rather then high HP. As long as none of your heroes have significantly less health then all the others I haven't really noticed any problems.

Any particular reason you're using Survivor's over Tormentor's Insignias? The AI factors both armor and health into targeting, and that extra 10 armor(~16% damage reduction) is much better than the 35 health from Survivors unless you're planning to face a shitload of smiters and armor-ignoring damage.

The one time I used dual superiors was on a BiP I tested a while ago. He obviously died more than usual, but not nearly as much as I suspected he would. Part of it stemmed from the AI putting Protective Spirit on him almost 24/7 as an attempt to prot him from his health sac, which ended up being a good thing to keep him safe from actual damage, so I don't know about a plain old dual-sup character.

Might I ask to see the whole build?

I've used it on the your ED rangers and I did have problems, though I was in Slaver's Exile which may have had something to do with it.

I've also used a ST prot Rit with 2x Superiors (9+3 Spawning, 12+1+3 Communing, 9 Command). It was OK. I do tend to flag the ST behind everything else. And they're well protted.

edit: I tried the ST again a couple of times this evening on Morostav Trail, with a 40/40 set and 400HP. He survives fine, better than some others in my party (hello Norgu). The main threat to him seems to be using Death Pact Signet on me...

If the ED Ranger bar didn't work in Duncan HM, I suspect it's not because it's the ED Ranger, but because your enchantment shutdown didn't function properly. It's even less likely to be double superiors because they don't exactly have spike power.

The Survivor's Insignia are because my non-MM Necros have been N/Rt Discord Necros (or variants thereof) for a very long time. I did use Tormentor's at one point but getting stomped by Holy damage is just bad @_@ Now Blessed is probably better but not sure.

The full build is -

15 Death Magic
14 Soul Reaping
8 Command

Icy Veins [E]
"We Shall Return!"
Deathly Chill
Putrid Bile
Masochism
"Fall Back!"
Deathly Swarm
Blood of the Master

If using double Superiors work even with 400 HP, then it might be a good idea to start kitting out all the other heroes that can use it with double Superiors ...
