Change Aegis (PvP) from Party Member to Ally
chris12xu
currently Agies can only be casted on party members so you cant use it on NPC's in CM's I propose that it is changed so it will work on NPCs so it can be used as an anti spike option for the solo capping builds that cap in very short times

Wouldn't affect anything. Aegis does not affect AoE only targeted spells and attacks. It used to be ally until its abuse with ghostly heroes and capping caused that change.
Spirit Bond will do what you want and is generally a more flexible spell.

It's important because you can use it to catch spikes on stuff like Knights.
Also Spirit Bond = can be removed and so is not clearly better than Aegis (in fact I know several players who would claim the reverse).

/signed for use on npc's

spiritbond is better, aegis recharge kills it

i expected more from you coast. What a silly comment
Aegis recharge works out at like 21s average (30% HSR set), considering it affords total godmode, and is the most useful anti snare/flag push skill in the game, it is far superior to spirit bond imo, at least from the point of view of GvG.
SB can potentially be used 3x more often, but as its 10e per cast, in practise this is not a viable course of action. So the "real" amount of usage spirit bond sees, isn't much more than what aegis gets tbh.
Also its worth noting that even though Spirit Bond may appear to be a more flexible skill, its actually a more niche skill with very limited usefulness compared to what aegis can offer. Not to say its useless, but its certainly less productive than aegis vs everything except full invoke or A/P spike...
Aegis > SB vs pressure
Aegis > SB vs flag push/snares
Aegis > SB vs "most" spike builds
SB > Aegis vs Full caster spike (unless there is a smart mesmer)

well sb has been sorta redundant ever since people learned how to use shields and also the points listed above with the godmode being the ultimate factor is why aegis is superior, atleast in gvg.
sb is useful(especially when tied with soa on the ghost) in tombs where you can actually use it on recharge without worrying much about energy issues due to the frequency of spikes that happen in this arena .
aegis has a few cons itself that i don't need to list but that is what makes it less imbalanced.
doesn't need a change at all imo.

The question of changing Aegis is in regards to NPC's. NPC's who have lower armor due to no shield sets will benefit far more from SB than a regular player (assuming the player appropriately uses armor inscriptions and shield sets).
However the question in the op is about shrine capping builds in FA/JQ/AB. These are all categorized by high AoE damage. Aegis does not prevent damage. If someone has half competency they just target the adjacent npc and still blow up the shrine through your aegis.
