Ok, so, whenever I do the zaishen emote, (/zrank,) the emote appears as a weapon striking down at my position.
However, I've seen some people able to direct their zrank weapons - i.e. get it to appear on another person, or on another NPC.
How do they do this??

The weapon should appear a few feet in front of you. Not directly on your position. If you face another person at the right distance, it will appear right in front of em.

Its simply training, its called "spiking", or "ranking/zranking" someone, in order to prove that your title that is bought via cash and not experience, makes you a better person.

I am going to say I saw this back in the day when I used to play. I didnt know what it was at that time either. Was going to ask in forums but forgot... lol.
It appears as a diagonal slash on the opponent. The opponent can be quite a ways from you. as much as 10-20 ft from you.
If I am not mistaken it was not a result of an emote but a critical hit i think.
