Please help me out! Ele/Mo Proph build Pve
Lenivik
Hey. Ill start of with saying sorry. I no u will str8 away say that i should check search bar but ive tried that and haven't found what i am looking for. I'm not very good with it.
Anyway Ive bought the Game of the year edition of guild wars (didn't seem 2 have anything good in it other then the imp) so naturally i only have the Prophesies campaign.
I'm an Ele/Mo and im lvl 20. Ive gotten up to the thirsty river mission (with help of a friend) but i cannont beat it.
So could some1 please suggest to me an effective pve ele/monk build. Please be specific and include which runes and insignias (i have like none atm) that i should by.
Ive tried researching builds on my own for about a month now but i am still pretty confused with it all.
(It would be great if you used minimal amounts abbreviations.)

Hi,
I Had a devil of a time with this Mission myself; and not that long ago; so maybe I can offer a little help as my Prime Char is R/Ele, and maybe had some of the same problems.
1. Don’t move too fast, you have 2 minutes per team to take them down, use it; even if you have to sit idle now and then. When waiting out a clock don’t wait till 2 min on the button; jump off at about :50 give your team time to close and open fire, your chances of respawning one or two weakened mobs is minimal.
Consider including Water Magick in your build, Deep Freeze, and Shard Storm are good support spells for turning a fight in the favor of your team. Deep Freeze is a great spell if you've a minion maker among your H/H Team, it gives your minions a huge edge in the opening seconds of a fight; I spammed it pretty heavy in the Ring of Fire Content. Even if your Air/Fire heavy, consider the spell, your not after its damage; just its slowing affect on the bad guys.
Use the first 90 Sec to clear any bad guys outside the fort and pull as many as you can out. Try to get a situation where its you the boss and the priest in the last 45-30 sec; Flag your team close to the Priest, just pour in then pound the priest into a smoking hole;
2. Interrupts are very important, as the bosses Spam Aura of Restoration; and other Sack of Infinite HP spells; you've got to break their Self Heal cycle. Especially on the third level when you confront the two monks. As an Ele you might just Spam Lightening Javelin for that final 30 while your Physicals hammer the Priest, and or boss.
At the end of the Day, its probably not so much the build of your toon,
As much as Coordination; its not about winning individual battles, but Front liners and Back Liners working together to overwhelm first the guys out front, then the Priest, then the Boss.
That Saidl;
Some of the later story Prophcies material is alot harder without Heros. it was made for human players in PUGs; and so your missing that individual control and coordination. For example it really helps to have a Hero Target the Boss, while your team is killing the Priest, but of course you can't assign targets to Henchies.
Still Lytha manages just fine with Henchies alone. You should check her out, shes good, knowledgeable, and has a wonderfully wry humor.

Personally I love mercs and never run the cookie cutter Hero's everyone else has;
They might be a way to expand your options and control of your team.
Either way,
Once you have this one down, you'll find this mission space is a great place for Skills hunting. Once I completed Ascention, I returned here and spent about 2 days here hunting down elites.

Edited intial references to Hero's BB.

Take this opportunity to make a lasting mark on your Guild Wars experience.
My fondest memory is beating the Ring of Fire missions solo with henchmen.
Also, it's difficult to make recommendations when things are based on your playstyle.
Are you aggressive charging in? Are you wanting to be support? Are you cautious and taking your time to regen health and energy?
Rune of Superior Vigor, Rune of Minor Energy Storage, a Minor Rune in the attributes you're using. That's about all I can recommend at the moment.

This MIght help its my Hero Ele's Build with Double Dragon,
A Factions Skill removed; and Protective Spirit put in,
OgNDo8mMCmXtuDTLyqXP
OgBDo8mMCmXtuDTLyqzL
I think you'll find though find Aura of Restoration does enough Self Healing; IMHO Dont waste space on Monk Skills, if you want use Protective Spirit to mitigate damage. I like to fight close in with my fighters where I can use Lava Font Offensively, Flame burst should work as well. Open with Deep Freeze, step in close now their slow and Nuke'm. First unload Lava Font, and while their cooking, follow up with a Fireball right on the Nose. That should overwhelm alot of healing; Lava Font has a real short recharge and 10 energy, keep spaming the fire. If you find your standing around waiting on recharges I'ld sub Lava Arrows for Flame Burst to keep up the pressure.
If the fighter your supporting is doing his job, They'll die real good.
I'm Kitting Gloves of Minor Enegy Storage, and A Rune Major Fire Magic, to buff My Fire Stat to 14 and the DPS to 105 per Drop.
Energy Glyph and Aura should of course be active before you pull your first offensive cast.
BTW NPC Mesmers are not as Dangerous as PvP Mesmers - Your chances of Blowback here are Minimal.
A Hale Staff (of Fortitude) with +12 Energy and as High a Recharge Percentage as you can Manage Helps. Dont be shy about Salvaging drops to Assemble just what you need; High Percentage Staffs are pretty Rare, Hale Staff Heads a little less so IMHO; remember you can loose the item, so salvage the rarest upgrades first. I'm actually quite ruthless about this, color, Gold, Purple et al; does not really mean much IMHO; I've crafted most everything I or my Hero's carry.
Not meaning to talk down to yea, I do hope this has not gotten too basic and Obvious; Your in the desert; thats speaks to a certain level of skill; but as we see in another recent thread; the Desert is a Level Up; Time to get Mean on the Bad Guys;
Remember this: Your a Fire Ele, Your the Wrath of God on Two Legs - Nuke'm

Insightful Soul Shrieker: It's a Necromancer weapon and you'd get no Half Spell Recharge or Half Casting Time, but for all spellcasters it's +15 Energy likely makes it the best choice until the 20% HSR & HCT staves start showing up, at which point everyone discards it.
Sundering Rhino's Charge: For any Warrior using a Hammer, it's ideal (once you add an of Defense or Fortitude mod to it, of course) and is easily the best of the /bonus weapons and can be used the entire game.
Serrated Shield: Any Warrior using Tactics with an Axe or Sword will want this. There aren't too many decent shield inscriptions later on, so it's about as good as it gets. Also perfectly fine for the entire game.
Poisonous Nevermore Flatbow: Flatbows seem popular for their high rate of fire, and Apply Poison is one of the most popular Ranger Preparations. Again, toss an of Defense or Fortitude mod on it and it can easily be used the entire game. It's also the default bow for Ranger Heroes.
Tiger's Roar: Actually, this might be worth using as an early Elementalist since they normally stick to Fire magic, especially in Prophecies... Doesn't matter at your point in the game, though.
Wolf's Favor and Luminescent Scepter are garbage, however.

Considering your current skill choices, i would go with something like this
OgNDoMndC1iLt/S8u6KA
the elite you can cap in the desert. you could swap it with elemental attunement if you want. also, you can use your monk secondary for a res if you want. when you get to the ring of fire, swap the fire skills for water ones, and you should be fine.
----------
if you want, you could take flare over one of the fire skills as a half decent alternative to mind blast
after thinking about this, you should probably take rodgrot's invocation over the aoe spell, and flare over meteor. use your elite skill only when you are low on energy, and then spam flare. This bar is basically a proph's only alternative to using a generic mindblast, which is the best fire magic bar. if you need help using it message me ingame at

Not to be a pest,
But Trainers for Searing Heat, and Rodgrots are both located in the post Desert Content; The poster can capture Searing Heat however in Bloodstone Fen, or Aurora Glade; Rodgrots however is out of reach for a while.
Honestly this is why I wish this Forum was more open to Questions about Builds, as I have run into this myself. The PvX largely assumes your an Elite Player who has completed all the content and has the complete spell book at your disposal; Why I don't know, because if you are that player - then why would you need to Wiki anything? but it does; and I have found it of very limited value not being a member of its intended Elite audience.
Newer players like the Poster and myself, who are trying to cope with limited skills lists that need the help with builds; and hopefully you've found my contribution useful. BB.

the only important part of my bar is having a spamable skill like flare, and the first 3 skills (any element attunement would work somewhat). While under 3 enchantments with 13 energy storage you gain a net 10 energy from casting flare or any equivilant, and using that energy was the focus of my bar. for attributes go 11 e-storage and 11 elemental magic, and take an energy storage headpiece and a minor/major rune of energy storage depending on money availabe.

But, with around 6 platinum you could buy 2 balth flames in great temple of balthazar, unlock those two skills, and buy them at any trainer. Although as a newer player even that much money might be problematic to acquire, so just replace those two skills with any firemagic skill.

Just to be incredibly annoying and offer yet ANOTHER build idea, be aware that the Forgotten's constructs (the Enchanted) are basically giant lightning rods. They're nicely vulnerable to Lightning damage. Furthermore, the Water and Air lines have some good synergy (Arc Lightning, Chilling Winds, Lightning Touch). You could even stick Lightning Javelin in there for fun+interrupts as someone above suggested, if you want.
Maybe something like this:
A2QArIv4LT4QphVNH1CZy6YaA
(That's an old version of the skill template code, but it SHOULD still work)
