Why Bother?

The message on the login screen of Guild Wars says that the staff members that were devoted to updating Guild Wars 1 have been reallocated to completing Guild Wars 2. Doesn't that mean this section of the forum is completely and utterly meaningless? Nobody is going to implement any significant changes on the basis that there are no resources to do it with at A-Net.

Let me know if I'm interpreting the message wrongly.

Correction: There are resources - anet is just allocating ALL of them to GW2.

This section of the forum is more about brainstorming and dreaming up "what if?" scenarios.

Firstly, where is written that there's not a single person is working on GW1?
Secondly, they have promised us a lot of changes like GWB in Elona, Ebonhawke, something with Mad King Thorn.
Thirdly, this section is for players to dream rather than game designers to inspire.

Just because it is unlikely to ever happen doesn't mean people can't come with ideas.... haven't stopped people in the past now has it (considering both ridiculous suggestions and the ones that was just possible to implement due to technical stuff)

I know they have talked about GWB for Elona and the Mad King Thorn thing... but where does the Ebonhawke thing come in? Have seen nor heard of any of that sort.

They have the Beyond story written for Elona, but do not currently have the resources to put it in game. But I would guess they will have some people back after GW2s launch to complete stuff like that.

Where they say all the live team was relocated. Those were the only persons working on it so...it's pretty clearly written.


For the rest, I've had the exact same thought as the op. If no changes will be made in the future, what's the point in brainstorming? Yeah, it's fun, dreaming is always dreaming, but still pretty pointless.
And no, I don't believe the live team will ever be put back to this game. What they said they would have developped counts nothing, they already taken back their word many times in the past.
About Elona beyond don't you ever hope on it...they had already said they probably didn't have enough time/manpower for it and this before them being relocated. Imagine now.

As far as I know they have NEVER said ALL of the live team was relocated. The thing that was said by Stumme was:

I do not see the words that say: "All of the live team have been relocated to GW2 and will not, in anyway, work on GW"


Is what Stumme said about the Elona-part of Beyond.

This clearly shows that they are done with the stuff story-wise and that they CURRENTLY don't have enough people.
Why would they even spend time writing the story if they didnt plan on actually adding it into game sooner or later?

And please tell me which words they have taken back. As far as I know, nothing they have promised have been stated as no longer in the works.

Suggestions in this subforum are dead ends by themselves for an entirely different reason, which you would be aware of had you read the rules.
