Hello everyone,

I'm eagerly awaiting Guild Wars 2 as I guess many of you are

I have played Guild Wars 1 from the day of its release in Europe and finished the classic Prophecies campaign all those years ago and do no longer play the game. I do not currently own any of the consecutive campaigns/expansions that were released.

Today I came across an article regarding the Hall of Monuments and how it will affect Guild Wars 2. The God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals title was mentioned as well and immediately caught my eye, it is without a doubt the most badass title I have ever seen in a game.

Now my question to you guys is the following, if I buy all of the Guild Wars 1 campaigns/expansions now and start with a new character (I highly doubt I have any resources left on my previous ones) how long would it take me to get the GWAMM title?

I have read that getting this title is no small undertaking, however I am one of those people that really likes collecting mini-pets, titles and similar things in games. I would be willing to put some effort into it but it depends on how much effort that would be as well. If it takes me 6 months of playing 5 hours a day then I would rather spend those on Guild Wars 2, assuming it has been released by then.

Any insight you could offer me would be greatly appreciated.

You will definitely have resources on your original character(s). Birthday Mini's you get every year. So if you have even one character, that will be 6 mini's.

as well--your old character completed prophecies--that is one title already, if they finished the bonuses for all the missions--another title....if they liked to wander--cartography would also be farther progressed on.

I would keep your original characters, play them thru the other chapters and eye since they would already have skills and such unlocked this would greatly cut down the time you would need to get gwamm and fill in the hom.

That's probably what it takes, maybe just a bit less if you're efficient. So if that's what you're thinking, I'm not advising you go for it anymore unless you intend to play GW1 when GW2 is already released.

If you play 5 hours a day, it should not take you 6 months to get GWAMM. It also depends on how much resources you originally have because part of getting GWAMM means buying cons for party animal/drunkard/sweet tooth titles.

If you play a lot per day (i.e. you can do about 6 vanquishes per day which I did so it is do-able), you should be able to get GWAMM by about 3 to 4 months. Go for title synergies, use the textmod cartography mod as you vanquish.

Don't attempt it man.

You have to play hours on end every day for months. 3 to 4 months is very, very fast and that's if you know what you're doing and you're playing 8 hours a day every day. Cartographer alone on every continent will be hundreds of hours.

Realistically it could take you 6-12 months.

If you want to play GW2 upon release then do not attempt to achieve GWAMM from scratch.

This is a bit of an exaggeration. If you average an hour per area, which is entirely reasonable as long as you have decent heroes, vanq+scraping will take about 120 hours. Finishing carto after that won't be immediate, but it won't take very long.

But that requires decent heroes and knowing how to use them, and it's still 120 hours (give or take, you know, 10 or 20 or 30 or something). I'm not saying gwamm is short or anything, or that the OP should spend the time going for it. It still takes a ton of time (and a ton of money if you do the consumable titles instead of farming luxon/kurzick or getting ldoa or something). And I agree that if someone wants to play gw2 from launch, getting gwamm starting from scratch is not realistic. I'm just saying carto isn't quite as bad as you made it out to be.

(I still hate it, though. I just decided to finish my gwamm in the last month or so, and 7 heroes gives you all the fallback you could ever want, and I still hated scraping. Ugh.)

I'm almost to GWAMM after nearly 7 years of play and just made 50/50 in my Hall of Monuments. Needless to say it hasn't been too great of a priority for me. Hopefully I'll cap those last 5 EOTN titles before GW2's release.

So... it all depends on your priorities, focus, how much time you get to play, and how much work you want to put into it. It will definitely feel like work.

I recently obtained my GWAMM and 50/50 from scratch a few months ago. (I had played since GW release but I quit about a year after Factions Release with a few off an on breaks) It took me roughly 8-10 months and I knew exactly what I was doing, utilizing GWAMM friends and the Wiki extensively. Of course a lot of that time was spent raising money and working on my Hall of Monuments. I also played almost every day for at least 4 hours. (sometimes more on weekends and lets just say I didn't get much sleep)

It is possible yes and depending on your monetary resources it could be shorter; I think that realistically you probably won't make it unless you work really hard.

One thing to note, however, is that when you do achieve that title it is a great feeling.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do.
