What did you get from your 7th year birthday present?
Godess Charmaine
if the bday date is the 28th of April would it not be the caes that all these Sposed 7th bday gifts that have been open been days ealier then the accual bday of the toon in question.
So maybe just a thought since they seam to be stackabel that anet have given you the 7year vets an early pressy as a ty for your suport and when your toon acually turns 7 you will get your real pressie.

I think an epic thing they could have done for 7th birthday presents was, when you open your gift, Dhuum comes out of the ground, strikes down your foe, and when you're logged out it says: "Happy Birthday! You weren't really banned, this is just something fun we thought we'd do!" Or something like that. I was kinda hoping for April Fools something like that would happen, Dhuum randomly pops up and ban scythes people but as April Fools only.

Instead of trolling the entire Guild Wars community how about you come clean Mr. Stumme and tell us what minis are possible. I would very much like to know what the rarer minis are.
WhitePaladin
So no new tonics? just minis?
Pyrthas
I don't see how he's trolling. They've always left random drops up to players to discover. Nothing new or unexpected there. (Well, I mean, if he's lying, then yeah, he's trolling, but I'm guessing he's not lying.)

From what I understand the 7th B-day gifts come out on the characters B-day. Many of the Beta people were able to keep their Beta chars. when Prophecies was released. So early (before the 28th) 7th B-day gifts are very possible.
take_me
If that was true we'd have had 7th birthday presents way earlier. Birthdays were set to the first time a beta char logged in after the game was released. My theory is, that through a 1-day head start + 2 leap years, people had their presents as early as April 25th.

I got mine the other day on my main - a mini Candysmith Marley. I didn't have that miniature, and I do quite like it, so I'm happy enough with it. It was originally a year five purple. Next 7th birthday is not for a couple of months.
Pinkest One
Not one report of a new mini ingame from friends or on any forums.
The Rarest B-day mini's are normally known and documented WAY before now..Even the MPB was known before it was actually found ingame thanks to .dat miners. Wtf is going on? Did they have some technical oversight with all the anxiety the BWE inevitably caused?
Wish we could hear a bit more from John about this!

So if you open a 7th bday gift you get a mini you dont have... Wait this means what you dont have in your HoM? you dont have on that char? you dont have across all chars on that account?
Any ideas?

I have three 7th year presents..
If someone can show me the non-birthday plausible mini's, I'll give them a present.
I just want to know what I'm dealing with here.
Thanks!

There isn't suddenly going to be a huge influx of any rare miniatures in game. If anyone hasn't understood that much already they're just stupid. How many gifts do you guys think have been opened up this far? Few thousand at best?
Droprate for stuff such as Polar Bear is 1:5000 or 1:10 000 (from the chest not from this present) and Zaishen chest has a droprate of like 1:10 000-1:100 000 for several of its tonics. Even if someone got one its not sure it would actually even show up in this thread.

1)rare mini's are not going to show up.
2)they did the easiest thing they could that would do 2 things.
a)provide a bday gift.
b)provide minis to fill everyone's homs.
if they gave new mini's, people wouldn't sell or give them away for next to nothing. this makes filling hom easier which makes people more likely to buy gw2. for the exact same reason they've been extending events and adding items to drops. it surprises me that they don't just give a full hom and gwamm to anyone who has gw1 and pre orders gw2.

We were all told and lead to believe by someone with higher authority than the rest of us that there will be rare mini's, of which aren't recycled 1-5 years.
Can confirm this with a reply on page 2 of this thread
So the speculations are at best. But still speculations.
But my previous offer was requesting insight.
Wasn't meaning to be spontaneous, but in a timely fashion however.

There may be that 1 in a million rare mini. So as not to upset the current rare mini owners very much. But even if they did that, it's only to get everyone to open it and basically give away all the crappy reissues so that people can fill their homs for cheap.
I have one. Is it the golden ticket?
Mintha Syl
None of this. It was just a pure speculation some people were making, but it revealed to be wrong. So, it's just random as usual. Yay for duplicates! But you still get no whites so you have a decent chance to get something you didn't have.
Riot Narita
I don't think that's true.
I got a mini that I already had in my HoM. I might be a special case (I already had ALL birthday mini's in my HoM, I opened the present using the 7-year old character that received the present, it's the same character that dedicated all of my other mini's)... but others have posted to say they got mini's they already had in their HoM too.

What specific rare minis are they offering and at what ratio. They are playing games to get everyone to open theirs so there will be an influx of cheap minis.

So by you saying they're playing games to get people to open their gift(s)- that they're lying to us, their patrons, the people who pay their bills and put food in their stomachs? This just seems nonsensical. But, the odds are there.
If you seriously have one, then look at my proposal about 5 replies up.
I'm offering an unopened 7th year just to take a look at what could be in the presents. You may call it the golden ticket, I call it the proof.
The Only Warrior
well if there was new new mini's someone would have seen it in the .dat by now, this leads me to think either: Its a Certadon/Gray Giant or similar give-away items(non-tournament), or the skin is already being used somewhere in game, such as baby pets in menagerie, that red frog thing, or something small like that. Either way its a great way to piss off the 7 year faithfuls right before you launch a new game. Happy 1000 armbrace minipet whoever gets it first.

Most likely they don't want the GW1 servers used anymore. Easy way to help? Have terrible events and presents from now on.

So nothing new, if there is anything new, it must be SO Rare that its like impossible to get.

Well think about it, they can't spend the resources on GW1 for making new gifts every year. I understand this but.. if they were going to stop making new gifts I wish they would have said awhile back... I was kind of hoping for a new series of gifts for my older chars. By not telling the community whats going on it was a let down during the celebration.

And before any trolls start crying "Oh boo hoo, you didn't get something in a SEVEN year old game...."; I just want to point out that I'm just complaining about the lack of communication not the lack of reward. I'm fine with them abandoning this game, I just think it would have been a nice courtesy to the longest time players to let us know about it instead of mind-!@#$'ing us.

But it's not, it's an annual event. If numerous developers say the same statement in an unobjectionable manner, I'll take their word for it.
So please don't be so detrimental to ANet's name.
I, much like everyone else here, is genuinely intrigued on just what could be lurking in the presents.
Whether it be false, true or undetermined.

How dare Anet make allow all the rarer minis drop from this year's birthday presents. They are uncommon and rare for a reason. This shows an absolute disrespect for the high end traders whose income depends on the rarity and price of these minis. They have done nothing but dumb down this game over the past 7 years since day 1 and catered to the lazy player time after time. I have had it with GW - epic fail here and I certainly won't be supporting GW2 - I hope it fails so epically that it'll go down in the history books as the poster boy for fails.

Mr. Stumme also said that there are minis that haven't previously been in the presents. That doesn't mean they aren't recycled minis, they just weren't from birthdays. That means that there wouldn't be new minis. No one has found anything new in the .dat files. That means they are rare pets already available in the game, just not previously as birthday gift drops.

We're aware they're preexisting miniature's, just not which.

And when was the last time ANet told us what rare items could come out of a Strongbox/Gift/Present before we found it out ourselves?

Usually when the presents are released, we see the green minis come out on day 1. Same with strongboxes and the winds of change minis.
So unless these other minis, whatever they may be, have a .0000001% chance of dropping and we only see one drop every few weeks then I'm of the mind they will only be old birthday minis.
I think perhaps John Stumme unintentionally misinformed us and perhaps worded his statement incorrectly. Sometimes we take things at face value when it may have just been meant as an offhand remark. That's the only way I can justify this to myself.
OR, as has been said before, Anet may need to update the presents at some point and perhaps got carried away for the GW2 open beta and someone forgot to push a button for the GW1 presents lol.
Quantum Duck
Ok, so either the ones we don't know about are more rare than a normal green mini and/or the people getting them would rather sell them than report them to the rest of us. I don't see a need for this to mean that something is wrong.
How many players have 7 year old characters and are still actively playing? How many characters turned 7 during the GW2 BWE? How many are AFK on the nine rings and planning to check back in next weekend? How many are holding on to unopened presents until they see all possible results? How many who find a rare mini will report it instead of just selling it quietly? What percentage of those getting minis this week even check forums?
There are plenty of factors here to let me to suspect that it's the forums/wiki not finding it yet rather than Anet doing it wrong. I'm personally going to relax, enjoy my M.O.X., and wait and see what turns up. I suppose everyone should feel free to panic, but I won't be joining in.

Since there's no sudden influx of Asian minis, it would seem that they're probably not the answer. You'd think there would be one or two new ones for sale by someone other than the usual suspects.
Best guess is that Stumme was wrong. Second-best guess is that they're lower-value limited minis, and the few people that have opened them simply don't realize that they've never come out of birthday gifts or don't hang out here.

I'm leaning more towards mis-informed. By now the wiki page would have been updated, some one would be trying to sell them either here, auctions or kamadan...or someone would have heard of someone trying to sell them and told 2 friends.....
its not like it hasnt happened before (misinformation).

There are also people like myself who are holding onto our 7th year gifts to see if we can get an actual confirmation of something else dropping out of them before we open them. I will probably open it up eventually, but given my luck with gifts, don't expect anything special.

If they are releasing the ultra-rare minis, they wouldn't want to flood the market with them. That truly would be a slap in the face to those who spent a fortune to get theirs. But if the drop rate is similar to that of mpb, or even a ghostly hero? Remember how long it was from the time the ghostly was introduced to the time one first popped?
In my opinion, the lack of any other pets showing up to date is a reason to believe (added to JS's comments) that the asian minis will pop in time.

imo 7th year bday presents are going to have the lowest rate of being opened/received simply because of the lack of players now compared to previous years..but then they decide to make it stack-able ?? smells like anets cooking something up for the finale and maybe thats when well see the non-bday pets
Doesn't seem like something Anet would be too concerned about seeing what they did with previous mini's and tonics

The problem here is that Strumme is toying with you guys. He could say that there is a .000000000001% chance of specific asian rares or destroyers, gray giants, ceratadons, etc. But he leaves everyone hanging. Open them and see lol.
They want them all opened so that that the vast majority of year 7 reissues will go to people who need them for homs. Then they will be more likely to choose gw2 over d3. Wish they would have made things easier for those of us who grinded and paid top ecto for our titles. They aren't doing us any favors. Shrinking down existing things takes very little effort. This is pure marketing genius.
Open and trash all cheap minis. Screw the 5k bs.
