Well since the GW2 forums told me to post here and not there, here I am.
GW1 was running fine until I installed the GW2 beta client.
What I did was:
Created a "Guild Wars 2 Beta" folder on my desktop before I ran the client. Once I was ready to download I did to this folder on my desktop. Which what was said to do with Windows 7.
Ever since, the beta client works fine, but I can't play GW1 at all.
I ran everything as administrator, uninstalled everything GW related including the beta. Tried to install fromt he GW cd's and the beta client on the website. Still doesn't work, GW keeps crashing. Not sure what else to do.
Any help would be great, thanks all.
GW1 won't run after GW2 beta download.

It would help if you explained what sort of crash you get.

Were you able to successfully start the game at any point after Tuesday's update?
Alot of people have been having crash issues with that update.

I don't think it's related to the beta at all. Try this:

For those with the problem of the client coming up and immediately crashing, I got it to start downloading files with just the simple guildwars2 folder in the x86 programs folder dragged to my desktop.
its connected and still downloading as Im typing, i was doing everything I could think of and just gave that a shot and voila!
1.go to x86 program files and locate guildwars 2 folder
2.drag the entire GW2 folder to desktop
3.reopen the client
if it doesnt help you, then I apologize..I just took a shot in the dark and it worked for me.

^in other words, following ANet's instruction to not install in the Program Files / Program Files (x86) folder.
