Cheapest material cost for max non prestige armor
ColdSnowden
I would like to buy a set of non-prestige armor and I know they are pretty much all 1k. But does a certain set have the lowest materials cost? I don't really care how it looks I just want a cheap max set to put runes on for certain situations.
Once again cheapest material cost, I know they are all pretty much 1k a piece.

Your best bet is to look at each of these places, and then look at the materials involved. Remember, you'll be spending 5k (for the base cost of all of the armor pieces) plus the cost of one sorta "base" material (often hide, cloth, or iron), plus the cost of one additional material. In general, Hide and cloth are pretty cheap, while iron will raise the price a bit. Inclusion of lots of Rare Materials will also elevate the price

I always get some of the kaineng armors before I have access to the nicer looking armor sellers. For some professions like Frangeo already said they are cheaper. But it cant be more then a few k anyway.

By going to the wiki:
http://www.guildwiki.org/Armor_types
you can pick your class and then follow the various links to find out what materials you need to craft the basic sets and compare that to what materials you may already have, and the cost of getting the materials.

Collector armor is max armor and basically free
Captain Bulldozer
It also can't be fully upgraded... not to mention the time cost involved
On topic: OP: Depending on profession, most max armor sets will cost you in the neighborhood of 10k total (with mats). Some profs have options with mats which are easily obtained through basic farming, but if this is your first set, you probably won't want to bother with that. Probably the best thing you can do is play through the game normally until you've amassed around 10k and then just buy the armor you need. Honestly, that may seem like a lot at first, but getting money in GW is not now, and has never been, a problem. Good hunting.

Keep in mind that Collector armor does have some downsides. The various pieces of armor need to be acquired from different collectors, which means having nearby outposts open on the toon you are getting the armor for. Some collectors want items to trade for the armor which require farming if you don't have them in storage somewhere. And some collector armors, while max, do not take an insignia. If you opt for collector armor, do a search on the wiki, there's a list there of all the available armors.

Monk tats from Droks. Only 4k plus 200 cloth and a few feathers.
Cheapest max armor there is, as I recall.
(edit) Necro scars are even cheaper.

True, and you should have a monk, because monks are awesome, but getting to Droks will be expensive (unless you have a friend to run you for free).
hankey
Like Quaker said use the wiki, i've done it quite a few times, you just need to check the current rare mat prices in-game

I have access to pretty much everywhere in the game, this is by no means a new character. I just want a couple cheap sets so I don't have to move runes around every time I want a different build.
I play a necro BTW

Hence my edit - I spotted the necromonker in your info
