Hi there guys,
I'm a returning GW player and I'm looking to roll a new character specifically for getting some HoM rewards. My question is, which profession would you consider the most powerful for 7 hero runs of hard mode missions and vanquishing? I'm open to trying any role, and would like to pick something that is diverse enough to be able to cover a range of the things required for filling the HoM.
I'm currently leaning towards Mesmer, but I'd love to know what others think.
Thanks!

Queen Of Recovery
probably ritualist, but mesmer is ok
any caster type (not monk) is quiet easy i guess

Rits are commonplace for farming. They are very flexible. There are builds for solo, Offense, and Support.

something melee for balling up, then bring a lot of aoe nukers.
Relyk
Assassin as always.

If you like Mesmer, do Mesmer. I wish I had picked my Mesmer. I picked Monk because I thought it would be easy to find a group. Well, it is! But after so many years, I'm tired of playing the same build over and over.
Mesmer is pretty powerful and gets accepted in parties easily. When playing with Heroes, you are targeting enemies (unlike the Monk), and can do lots of damage or shutdown. Mesmer's also have Prodigy insignia which make you less squishy than other casters (+15 armor if 3 or more skills are recharging, which if you're a good Mesmer, your skills WILL be recharging!).
With Mesmer you never get bored, there's a big variety of builds. If you're tired/sleepy you can run an easy build. If you're feeling perky, you can pick a build which requires thought and is exciting to play.
When I play Mesmer with my heroes, enemies just pulverize.
Mesmer and Warrior are both powerful and able to use a good variety of builds so you don't get bored. You can also try lots of builds with Ranger, but they're not as powerful as Mesmer or Warrior.

Personally I really really love Assassin. Yah most people say it's just a spam fest with nothing thrilling, but whatever the class is fun and I like it and it's not really a spam fest .
Also Assassins have a huge variety of builds so you can change them a lot.
Personally I didn't like mesmers since I'm not a caster type. But again it's just me.
If you like Mesmer though, go for mesmer! No sense in choosing something that you don't like.
Ritualist is the best thing for PvE but it doesn't mean you should play it just because of that!

Play what you like, because it doesn't matter what class it is, you'll be spending a lot of time playing it. 7 heroes make the player class almost irrelevant, especially if you're running an AP EVAS spammer.

Thanks for the responses all!

Don't play a monk when most of the game is going to be solo these days.
With melee you have to worry about pulling, positioning for shouts, and whatnot.
Paragons and rangers are meh for heroing. Paragons are decent in groups with Save Yourselves otherwise they are pretty lackluster.
With the HM update eles aren't as bad, but still not that great.
Rit/Mes/Necro are usually the most solid choices due to flexibility. would've recommended Necro more than Mesmer before the HM (Hard mode) update. Since Necros are primarily damage based (whether from SS/minions/MoP/orders , or if you are bad at GW and play DOT degens in PvE) the boost in monster HP hurt Necros more than Mesmers, which are primarily shutdown and disruption based. Rits just got stronger from the update. DwG is lightning damage, as is ancestor's rage, spirit rift, etc.
