Same if someone controls over 90 unded Asuras at the same time - making lots of profits on them is pretty easy then.
That's a big if. Assuming you can prove someone tried to manipulate MKG pricing in '09 by buying a majority I'd feel very sorry for them. Take a look at what they sold for then and what they sell for now. There's also a big difference in both acquisition method and rarity between MKG and Asura, it's reflected in price. Curious that weapons in GW are often rarer and more well documented (what exists, who has/had it, how many etc.) and have a practical purpose but don't generate anywhere near the drama level of miniatures.

My remaining minis are all memoirs of a game I have played thoroughly and enjoyed immensely. I bought the minis necessary for my HoM, as have many others, but kept the ones that had a special meaning to me. My Rurik mini, which reminds me of quoting his lines in various missions, my whiptail devourer which was my first gift, my desert griffon that reminds me the slaughter I visited on that species; every mini I keep reminds me of great times with great people, and that is what minis are for me.

The only mini I want for my collection that I lack is the Gwen Doll from Nick's gifts. Unfortunately, by my own standards I must personally farm for the items for the gift and obtain them to acquire this particular mini, and so far I have been unfortunate. Nonetheless, I shall continue to strive to acquire this mini via my own set of rules, at which point I will consider my small collection of minis complete, a collection of memories from my favorite game.

It means storage space I can't use, because there's no 'collections' tab for miniatures like in GW2, and no "toy maker" that stores them like the hat maker.

And so, I have over 4 tabs of miniatures taking up space.

And I won't discard them, because I don't want to get rid of them.
Nor I will put them in a 'mule' because I don't have mules, don't believe in having characters as mules, and I can't use them with my other characters anytime I want if they are in a mule.

Other than that, they are a funny thing to use.
In festivals I sometimes play "copy the miniature", going around, kneeling as if my character deposited the miniature in the ground, popping the same miniatures other have, as if I was copying them.

As for 'value'. I see no real value on them.
I have them because I like to have them, and they are mine.
Other people having them is irrelevant to me, and if I can't have one, it won't lose sleep because of it.
I do look down on those using them to 'store' money.
You don't really need money in GW. You can get anything and everything you'll ever need as you go, yet some still see some rare items as something that you don't use, but store as if it was the gold in Fort Knox.
It's like having a toy and not taking it out of the box so it gets more valuable over time. No matter how much money you can get for a toy like that, it will never be as valuable as when it's used to play.
You won't get Tsukumogamis by puting things away. They must be used so they get a spirit.

As for repeated ones, I gave away most of them, and only sold a few moa chicks, because I made 10, one with each of my characters, and I just happend to see someone asking for a green miniature in the Eye of the North. I don't usually bother to trade if it's not a coincidence like that.
I still gave away most of those moa chicks too.

The rest of my miniatures from birthdays were given away to guildies or to people making contests and giveaways, or to the guys making a Guild Wars Let's Play series for Machinima, so they fill their HoMs before switching to GW2.

I've never really cared for minis all that much. They don't really offer much besides some eye candy and HoM fodder.

Well i once tried to collected them all, with only three missing (guess which Well before GWBeyond and the new minis, etc. Then there were more and more, and hmm i lost my interest in the collection. So i kept only some, who combines with my tonics, like MOX, MDK, brown and white rabbit, and Frostie/Winterelf with my reindeer tonic.
Hmm and somehow i felt pity for the grey giant and try to buy one, whenever i have some money, to give them a new home, as most of the player don't like them, so i have about 45 of those

Gold.

Don't care for titles or HoM grind.Pets via birthday prezzies and good luck have resulted in me never needing to farm or spend hours in Spamadan trading, an aspect of the game I personally can't stand, to get the suff I want.

Thanks to pets I've been able to pretty much totally avoid the trade simulator many are forced to take part in to get the gear, loot, title, etc they are after and I'm grateful.

The "dedication" mechanic only made this more lucrative and both sides of the coin seem happy as a result.

I just look to look at them. I couldn't care less about their value, I only care about how they look in my eyes. I prefer a white I like rather than a green I don't.
As for duplicates, just can't get rid of them, don't have the heart. And each char keeps its own minis, it's a memory, something like...you don't throw away a gift even if ugly, ain't it? I don't.

"MINIPETS, Gotta catch'em all"...
...actually not. Not enough money to buy those that cost all those ecto/braces stacks, though it's fun to try.

I don't play much anymore but made the whole annual series (not that hard) and got a few that cost less than 2 stacks of ectos/zkeys.
Maybe i'll get a few more when i feel like logging in again to check how's the economy going and fill the space in a few more chars.
