Is this guild still worth buying seeing that GW2 is almost here ?

In my opinion yes. Guild Wars is very different from Guild Wars 2. It's gameplay is a whole other thing.

Not only would you get a lot of fun, but the story is also something nice to know.

In my opinion GW1 is still worth buying for so many reasons. You can even work on your HoM and get rewards for GW2!

It's cheap enough so I don't see why not. If you care about lore or just want to see what the world of GW1 is like play the trial then decide.

GW2 will probably still be a while so get something to keep yourself busy.. this game surely will.

There are a number of new players entering the game now, so you'll have some people to play with. Even if you don't ever play with another person, it's a fun single-player game with a lot of content and an incredible value in terms of what you get for your money, and that's on top of the lore and references that you'll appreciate come GW2.

Also, HoM items. You should at least be able to unlock the first armor set by the time GW2 comes out.

They're two totally different games, so my answer is: buy it no doubt if you like it for itself, but don't if it's just cause you like gw2, you're not gonna get the same thing.
If the question is: is this game worth buying even if old? my answer is: hell yes!
