weekend events

Com'on, I was just kidding.

It was just a ironic parallel between the two welcome screens. The announcement for the Stress Test was still up there, and they never changed it to introduce the imminent BWE before yesterday. I knew about it thanks to an entry on their official blog, but still, the welcome screen could have been updated at the same time for those not checking blogs regularly.

The technical problems with the patch - which also updated the welcome screen - are totally unrelated, but I found their issues with prompt updates of the login messages in both games kinda funny

I still blame the fact that GW2 is about to be released which takes resources away from the prompt updates of the login messages in GW1. It wasn't like this in GW1 six months ago.

That is what I have been saying. They couldn't even spend the small amount of resources needed to communicate weekend events to their GW1 customers.

The last time we were following the previous year schedule so we had a reference, the difference is that now, we are not. It might as well be random.

what I find strange is their ability to do the monthly pvp tourney update, but not update the info on the log in page (nor take the minute needed to post said).....I am NOT getting a warm and fuzzy feeling about this.

their lack of communication with their CURRENT player base...not a good idea to make the current people unhappy when your next endeavor is still in testing. (usually not good to burn your bridges before you have completely crossed them).

Agree, and it's sad, since the update of the login screen could be easily automated.

I really don't get it, if they can't dedicate resources to GW1, at least they should ensure that the least human involvement is needed for the management.

Right now they're simply ignoring the first game.

Anet must have one weird team setup - looks to me like its only 1 person per job role and probably the 1 person in the team who can either update login screen or even update website has gone to gw2.
You cant tell me that anets short staffed and thats affected the events showing - its been like this for quite a while , quite a few major events were ommited.Easter 2 years on the trot and yet 3 years ago the easter message showed.
Ive actually grown tired of posting similar replies - infact id reckon quite a few who have replied are like me and have complained about it in the last 2 years on an off and im starting to feel anet wont fix it.
Same with updates - update goes live and a few hrs later we find out whats been updated.Why the changes cant be posted within 10 mins - im sure anet staff are aware of the updates , heck they even made the updates .So even knowing in advance it takes a staff member an hr to get it on wiki etc.

So does anyone know what this weekend's event is?

I guess I didn't realise how much the weekend events influenced my decision to play or not until the announcements stopped.

I don't think it's the correct one. I just nearly did a vanquish and noticed no movement on my lightbringer points with 4 blessings up. :/

It's definitely double SS/LB... I've been farming points on my alt account all weekend and that was the first thing I checked.

Also, they keep putting GW2 BWE on title weekends.... wtf is that about, how about making it a useless GW weekend, like PVP or some shit.

I second that ^ I could care less about PvP so no beta for me this weekend (although my boyfriend lives for it in all formats not just GW or GW2 - shudder).

I had a character max his SS title yesterday doing the flower circuit in Holdings of Chokhin and he was definitely getting double points. I'm getting ready to have another character do the same - it's a fast 2k points with lots of plant fibers.

If theyre not going to update the event on the annoucment screen they could atleast just remove the message compeltly.

At least they updated it last weekend with accurate information. Thank you ANet!

We're very sorry about the fact that Guild Wars' MOTD has not been updated consistently over the last few weeks. We had a couple of technical and human hiccups that should now be sorted out.

Well, we got 54 days out of it until it broke again...

yeah I was wondering when they would slack again---guess its just tooo close now for us to get any love here.

So will there be any further weekend events or what? I'm assuming as of now its not STILL the EoTN rep weekend bonuses right?
