Gurus,
I don't have a lot of experience trading in GW, either as a buyer or seller. I'm trying to get a sense for what skins are valuable and what should just be merched, etc. I was about to post a question on here asking about the great conch shield skin (found a AR16, Tactics 10), but then decided to check the PvP reward tables and saw that it is a basic reward. So I'm guessing that it has very little trade value.
My question is: are PvP reward classes (i.e,. basic, fancy, and exotic) a fairly good proxy in determining which skins are valuable, and which are not? Are there any exceptions that jump out to anyone?
Here's the link to the tables for those who want to refer to them: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/PvP_reward .
EDIT to add: One example that seems to run counter to this proxy are half moon bows. I've found a few of those, and they are listed as "exotic" PvP rewards. Are those worth anything? I merched one and use the other as a secondary, thinking that they were fairly worthless.
PvP reward class as a proxy for skin value?
Astraeos
Blackzilla
the reward classes are not really useful in determining items values, for example katanas and bo staves are listed as basic and jade sword and shadow staff as exotic. What really matters is how rare the skins are and how rare it is to find good mods/good mod combinations on the skins.
