Infusing armor anyone?
When having a r9 tiger meant something and people in game "oooohhhhh'd" and "awwwww" over it. Now it's just a novelty.
Getting calls on my cell-phone from PvE friends asking me to form a group and go win HoH so that America could get into FoW/UW.
GvG guilds like War Machine, Pride, Everfrost, Irresistible Blokes, etc. etc..
Man I miss this game. I don't think/am not sure if GW2 will EVER come close to having as much meaning as this game. I think GW1 could have been improved/patches and there was little to no need, other than a competetive money making standpoint, to introduce GW2.

Being at the The Day of the Tengu and grouping with REAL players doing the 3quests to find out that i had only 200fangs then I farmed my others for my legit tengu mask I still have it where it replaces my helm none of my other toons even have it.
and SIGH if only I had the power to tell the future for the gw staff just to give the things away grrr now I'm not the only 1 in my guild with the cool tengu mask :

For some reason, I remember going into "The Breach" for the first time and I was truly amazed. I don't remember anything before that for some reason though lol.

I've Been playing Guild Wars now since the begining. It was the first Online game that i ever bought or played, When i look back now at how i use to play the game I just Laugh at my own Noobness (is that a word? It should be in my case) .
(Now before i continue keep in mind this was the first online game i had ever played.)
I had only been playing for about ten minutes and i was reading what people were saying in chat in Pre Searing Ascalon, and someone was talking about who wants to go out and farm with him............yes i thought i could go out and grow stuff. Also it was about a week before i realized you could leave pre searing (i thought that was the whole game), so didnt realise there was more to it. Funnything is even only having access to the tutorial level like i thought i did i was still hooked on playing Guild wars and still are to this day. What i miss most about Guild Wars would sometimes have to be my Noobness to playing it. I guess i can try again with GW2 in August.

I just miss my original GW crew and community.
It's always the same deal in any MMO...people move on...but it's also true that what keeps many like me playing now is the hope that I can maybe, if I'm lucky, replicate the first few years when, for me, this game had no comparison or competition in terms of both community and overall philosophy.
Alas I think it's becoming increasingly futile and I'm highly doubtful if GW2 will even stand a chance of stacking up to the first 2-4 years of GW but I am hopeful Anet can pull a rabbit out of the hat.
Long live Wammos and 55's.Sarcasm intended.

Not sure if it is my favorite memory or not, but certainly my most memorable moment was with my first character, a monk. I had finally made it to the Southern Shiverpeaks, and was at Copperhammer Mines. No one else was on line at the time and I decided to try to find an outpost (War Camp) I was told was north of the mines. So I hired up 7 henchies and set off. 3 hours later I stumbled into Beacon's Perch with 60% dp. Wondering where on earth those worms had come from, and why no one had told me about them. I explored most of Snake Dance, all of Dreadnought's Drift, and all of Lornar's Pass. Oh, and since I had few extra skills unlocked, my monk was running as a mesmer since I had so few monk attack skills unlocked yet.
It almost ranks up there with running my dervish to Ascalon City and ending up in Flame Temple Corridor.

I miss going through the campaign for the first time and actually grouping with random people... even on my second character a couple months after release it became unnecessary for most missions.
I miss stepping into UW the first time and getting 2-shot by the first pack of aaxtes. Then people discovered 55 monking and I remember how UW suddenly became easily 2-mannable. I played an SS necro. Made a few friends farming for my set of FoW armor.
I miss all the silly imbalances that were in the game at the start, like being able to control 40+ minions. I remember in a FoW run my entire group died on some event where you have to defend a dwarf from waves of enemies. I did that whole event solo and then spent another 10 minutes soloing until I found and killed a boss to recharge my res sigent.
Most of all I miss Tombs (and then HA). That was the most fun I've ever had in a game. At first, every point of fame was a great accomplishment (while other people spirit spammed in HoH for hours), then finally getting rank 3, winning halls for the first time. Then winning halls for the first time with my name on it (this was much, much later because I hardly ever led a team), winning favor. The endless road to rank 9. Making new builds and actually succeeding with something unique. Waiting in anticipation the whole night for the team to finally get together and then playing till 4 in the morning. All the friendships and rivalries that formed. So sad that it's gone forever, but I'm glad for all the great memories.
I also miss alliance battles because they were the most fun casual PvP in any game. GW's great system, combined with a large battlefield, where you could just run around and fight people. I played hundreds of hours of AB, mostly as a cripshot or BA ranger, from when it came out until long after I stopped playing GW regularly. I still logged in from time to time and just played ABs. I was hoping that WvW in GW2 would recapture that type of PvP, but sadly, it's nowhere close.

Stance+axe w/mo farming ettin outside Beetletun and griffons in the desert.
The economy bug forcing a server rollback.
Getting a group for explorables in southern shiverpeaks because henchies got rolled.
When getting a minion master was a huge joy.
Rangers trapping in PvE, Hell's Precipice.
Hoping someone knows the way/bonus.
Praying no one angers the monks so they don't leave (I still do this for MMOs in general)

I have many good memories of this game, and through the slightly intoxicating view of nostalgia, they are memories that I shall cherish fondly. My hope is that for GW2 I will develop these same memories of times long ago, a simpler time, when wammos were stuck at THK and I had to spend my attribute refund points to reskill to be a slighty less horrible player; a time when everything was new and the sense of discovery was truly amazing.

Doing FoW HM when I was less than capable, Guild (at the time) let me tag along anyway and telling me what to do on teamspeak.
Events like HalloWintersday etc. for the first time, I was like a kid in a sweet shop
I just hate myself for putting of buying GW's for so long because I had to buy it. Even though at the time I played Flyff which was F2P but I wasted so much rl money in the Flyff cash shop. If anyone is selling a DeLorean and a Flux Capacitor, I'll buy!

On my 1st toon, a Necro in pre-searing, when I discovered I could summon minions, and did it for the 1st time

seeing all the runners advertising their drok run services at beacon's perch(or whatever the outpost is called)
trying to beat the market by camping at the rare mat/dye trader to see if anyone overquotes/underquotes his items

Prophecies...
Seriously, when Guild Wars was nothing but Prophecies.
Towns were full (almost all had 10+ districts)
Going through UW for the first time and finding out what Obsidian Armor and the Black Widow Spider were
Runs to droks
pre-searing to the full game
While I'm finishing my 30/50 on Hall of Monuments, I can't help but remember why I left GW after Nightfall came out. Titles.
The whole goal became focused on titles, and none of them did anything but required a ton of effort. I loved getting the aesthetic rewards, and trading for fellblades and storm bows... but just some title didn't do much for me.
I hope GW2 has decent enough rewards that people keep playing.

I am gonna get pounced because of this, but here it is anyway.
Yes, that's Vimway. I lead a lot of Vim teams years and years ago. I was living away from home and only had dial up and no voice chat. We won Halls quite a bit around 3AM and later. My name in this image was a reference to Pure Pwnage

I hated vimway and iway, but I'm still glad to see someone still remembers those, what I miss the most from good ol' times is active HA, with all those top players who used to play, some still do. That place is only alive 2 times a week now which I find quite sad. But players like Leeloof, Starcraft, Seo, Sama, Infuse Carbs, Rezz Anna Nicole, Red Chamalee, Authority, Hopeless, Meatball, Borat and many others are those who I want to thank for making my GW (HA) experience way better. Their unique play style, skill, tactics, it's something that will definitely be missed.
PvE was fun as well.

In chronological order (i think):
1. My first ever GvG in beta games, it went on for so many hours both teams sat down together and had a chat
2. First time entering the Shiverpeaks and seeing the snow fall down
3. I joined a team that formed in LA with the purpose of finding a village that had skills
4. TOPK when it gave access to what is now Heroes Ascent, when there would be hundreds of people there and how you would jump onto Ventrilo meeting randomers constantly (and how the Americans found my Mancunian Brit accent strange).
5. Chest runs, chest runs everywhere especially Raisu or was it Imperial Palace?
6. Alliance Battles!! This is what I loved the most, just a crazy fight where you didn't have to think too much about what you were doing (if you chose to)... if only there were more maps...
7. Your first time going through EOTN

Running in Groups through Hell's or Witman's with /roll 100 to see if drops are gold or purple :P
But coolest thing i remember about it was doing chestruns on Ice Flow and selling unidentified req9 hornbow's + mursaat hammers for ~100k/ea =)
That was pretty amazing to me.

My first time getting a dye and selling it to a merchant for 1g...it was a black dye, my whole first year in GW when I lone-wolf'd it, when I bought factions and nf and realized I hadn't really even started the game, when I finished NF the first time and realized I just got troll'd, my first epic full completion of eotn (did it in a single weekend, no sleep whatsoever lawl), watching some high roller players get dhuum'd the first time they introduced that feature.....oh it goes on. Thank you Guild Wars for so many awesome memories and I hope many more to come....

think one of the things I remember most- it was mid day and I was killing scorpions around heros audience.. then my friend comes up later and shows me a ton of ecto in his inventory..
was like whaat.. apparently ectos and shards were selling back to the vendor for more than they cost.. he conveniently forgot to pm me that ass- it lasted like a hour too.. he was walking around like a king
ah well.. they never reset that vendor disaster either.. also remember selling my first green for 100k- was a tanzits defender on the first day sorrows was opened.. droks runs used to take a bit of talent to pull off too.. had a little bit of everything.. one screwup and you lost your customers
solo ritualist farming oni in rheas crater.. oh yeah you can't forget the 55 monk before protective bond was nerfed at 17 (with offhand cast 20%)- ah you were almost invincible.. no popups back then either the most rare item I owned was the 15% fiery flame spitter before it was nerfed and then a year later removed
the dungeon runs were pretty fun too.. I really liked farming though- like slavers exile.. got addicted to farming early on- used to farm riverside and get some good mats and golds
when I basically discovered that guildwars gold drops are not as random as you'd think.. it's based on the time of day.. that's how they keep certain things very rare.. like used to see people on the forum post- I just got xx gold drop.. I'd immediately go in game and usually end up getting it (this worked with fortunes and anything that had to do with a rare in any loot table)
game was really deep until cons and well nightfall.. hope gw2 offers farmers a bone somewhere.. I was hoping dragons would fly around like skyrim
